Bob Dylan- A very tough decision, both have inconsistent catalogs but both have so many singles that you could take 10 successful, critically acclaimed bands and stack their hits up against either Prince or Dylan and those 10 bands would fall short. It's just impossible to decide between these two based on the songs. So, I have to base my vote albums which isn't all that close, but it's kind of unfair. Prince fanatics would disagree, but he's a singles artist to me with a few pretty great albums while Dylan is an album artist with his epic ballads that are meant to be heard in the context of an album. Both of these guys are equally as good for very different reasons and no choice has been more difficult this tournament.

The Beatles- So they win everytime. Big deal, they are universally acclaimed as the greatest band ever, even greatest artists ever with Mozart, Beethoven and Bach. If they were barred from the tournament we'd all know that the winner would just be there because the Beatles weren't included. Anyway, with how close Zeppelin was, I wouldn't doubt that they get knocked out by The Stones this round, but I'll be skeptical about how many people actually believed The Stones truly are the better band. It's tough for me to make a fair judgement on that though, because The Beatles are the band I grew up with, that I stuck with and still love much more than any music I've ever heard. There is no such thing as unbiased when it comes to the Beatles for me because every single note of their music is so close to my heart. I imagine it's like being a Yankees or Man U fan as well, when they are your favorite in the first place, and all the publications continue to etch their place in history even deeper with each passing year you tend to have blinders on to the rest of the sports/music world.

For the second bracket, I'm picking who I would rather listen to at this very moment, rather than who I think is the definitive "better" artist. But in sports brackets, sometimes even the best teams have a bad night and lose a crucial game; what matters is the match at hand, not which team has the better record overall. :)

Why couldn't Dylan have matched up against The Beatles in the semis?

Dylan and Stones

@John

Comparing the Beatles to the Yankees? The Beatles would have made great music even if they had less money

I do honestly believe the Stones are the better band. The Beatles are amazing, and so is Prince, but nobody is left but the all time legends, and I don't think the Beatles ever did better than the Stones 1969-1972 period.

Just did the initial add up of votes, polls still open for 7 1/2 hours...

So far 24 non-AM were virtually deadlocked on both matchups... so far 23 on AM swinging the votes slightly in one direction... could come down to the wire with the possibilities of 5-10 more voters!!!

Dylan
Top 5 albums between the two:
1- Bringing it all Back Home
2- Highway 61 Revisited
3- Blood on the Tracks
4- Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
5- Purple Rain

Yeah, not really close.

Beatles
This one was, however (4 and 5 all time for me).
Top 5 Albums between the two:
1- Abbey Road
2- Sticky Fingers
3- Revolver
4- Let it Bleed
5- Rubber Soul

To do a listyguy:

7 Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
22 Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited
45 Prince - Sign O The Times
61 Bob Dylan - Desire
72 Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home
117 Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks
128 Prince - Purple Rain
192 Prince - 1999

So Bob wins handily.

34 The Rolling Stones Beggars Banquet
54 The Beatles Revolver
57 The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour
66 The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers
75 The Rolling Stones Let It Bleed
92 The Beatles Abbey Road
139 The Beatles Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
152 The Beatles s/t
209 The Rolling Stones Exile On Main St
282 The Beatles Rubber Soul

I'm gonna edge it to the Stones. (The numbers are the all time rank)
