How Will You Rank Radiohead's Albums?
For me, it's
1. Kid A
2. The Bends
3. OK Computer
4. In Rainbows
5. A Moon shaped Pool
6. Hail to the thief
7. Amnesiac
8. Pablo Honey
9. The King of Limbs
I'm curious about how much acclaim "A Moon shaped Pool" Receive. For me, this album feels like in Rainbows with less Beat.

A moon shaped pool could rise though. I've only listened to it three times so far. The rest of them have got dozens if not hundreds of listens.

Redirecting this post to the correct thread.
Haven't listened to AMSP yet but hopefully will do that soon. As you can see by my all-time rankings, though, it will have to be a masterpiece to compete with anything that isn't their debut.
1. OK Computer (#3)
2. Kid A (#6)
3. In Rainbows (#12)
4. The King of Limbs (#25)
5. Hail to the Thief (#45)
6. The Bends (#46)
7. Amnesiac (#50)
8. Pablo Honey (unranked)

Ok Computer and In Rainbows often switch places depending on my mood. Kid A and The Bends are barely much further behind them. All four deserve their highly acclaimed reputation and I love Hail to the Thief and Amnesiac too.
It's too early to assess A Moon Shaped Pool. I've only heard it once and it was too late in the evening to be reliably forming an opinion on it. Loved what I did hear of it though and if my opinion of it holds up over repeated listens it could at least knock everything from Hail to the Thief and below down one place and potentially compete for my favourite album of the year so far.

Re: How Will You Rank Radiohead's Albums?
I need to listen to A Moon Shaped Pool more.
1. OK Computer (~#10 all time)
2. Kid A (~#10)
3. The Bends (~#100)
4. In Rainbows (~#150)
5. Amnesiac (~#400)
6. Hail to the Thief (~#500)
7. The King of Limbs (outside top 1000)
8. Pablo Honey (way down there)
A Moon Shaped Pool is for sure at least in the Amnesiac/Hail to the Thief level. I doubt it will rise to In Rainbows, since most albums at that level gripped me immediately, but I could see it being a midway point between In Rainbows and Amnesiac.

A Moon Shaped Pool could still climb of course. I didn't expect they would ever again make an album coming close to Amnesiac, but AMSP definitely does. Don't yet see it beat Kid A or OK Computer, but who knows.

Haven't listened yet but it looks like it's going to be hard to crack the top 3: Kid A, In Rainbows, OKC.

Never listened fully to Pablo Honey.
OK Computer
Kid A
In Rainbows
Hail to the Thief
The Bends
Amnesiac
The King Of Limbs
And this would go below In Rainbows I think.

A Moon Shaped Pool's placement is pretty speculative at this point, but:
1. OK Computer
2. Kid A
3. In Rainbows
4. The Bends
5. A Moon Shaped Pool
6. Amnesiac
7. Hail to the Thief
8. The King of Limbs
9. Pablo Honey (the only one I wouldn't say I love, although I don't think it's terrible)

LOL at Pablo Honey getting no love. I've honestly never listened to it because of how low rated it is. I probably should at some point.

I think it stands up quite well as strictly an alternative rock record, but it still doesn't hold a candle to their impeccable discography. Worth a listen though.bootsy wrote:LOL at Pablo Honey getting no love. I've honestly never listened to it because of how low rated it is. I probably should at some point.

Yeah I've heard that a lot. It's like it was probably really good at the time of release for them but as they evolved it's like a forgotten album for them. i definitely will listen to it at some point.GucciLittlePiggy wrote:I think it stands up quite well as strictly an alternative rock record, but it still doesn't hold a candle to their impeccable discography. Re: How Will You Rank Radiohead's Albums?
Pablo Honey is great to listen to if only to put The Bends and OK Computer into a more proper context. To see them evolve from the mediocrity (with the exception of two great songs) of that album to create two of the defining albums of the 90s really is something.bootsy wrote:Yeah I've heard that a lot. For me, Pablo Honey made Creep worse, cos Thom Yorke does that same kind of scream on almost every song on Pablo Honey. It took away some of the uniqueness of Creep.
I feel like that

Re: How Will You Rank Radiohead's Albums?
Yeah, my friends and pretty much every Radiohead fan I've ever met think that I'm nuts. But OK Computer has just never grabbed onto me the way that the other albums do. I like the band's output Kid A and beyond because of the expanded sonic palette and the weird instrumentation they start using to flesh out their songs. OK Computer, in contrast, feels very monochromatic to me, a transition album in which they're trying to progress beyond the guitar template of The Bends without having quite discovered the tools available to them in Kid A. So for me, OKC lacks the hooks and energy of The Bends and the weird sounds and instrumentation of Kid A.Zombeels wrote:Bit of a shock here.Kingoftonga wrote: 7. OK Computer
Judging from our forum's Best Albums poll, I know I'm in the minority on this. Once a year or so I listen to the album and try to see what I'm missing, because I love Radiohead and every other Radiohead fan loves OKC. Right now I can respect it but I never feel the urge to listen to it.
