Welcome to Week 2 of the AMF Chart! The chart where you claw, you fight, you lose; got a doll that looks just like you.

19. Prince Rama - "Bahia" (1)
Total Votes: 112

Congratulations to Grimes' "Flesh Without Blood" and Beach House's "Elegy to the Void" for entering our Hall of Fame! Noting, of course, that both songs will enter the Hall for 2015, rather than 2016. Grimes' support for this song on the chart wasn't quite as big as the support she had for "REALiTi" back when, but it was still impressively strong. And with the retirement of two frequent chart placers out of a large block of frequent chart placers, there's finally a bit more room for new appearances. Good thing there was so much support and nominations last week! Hopefully we can keep the ball rolling well into the new year. :music-listening: A side, interesting congrats to David Bowie as well - the first male artist to top the chart solo in over 25 weeks. Due to Grimes and Beach House's retirement from the chart, the top 10 songs otherwise made it through to this week.

2016 Chart-Toppers by Week (by vote count, not chart position; total weeks atop chart in parentheses):
1. David Bowie - "Blackstar" (2)

2015 Hall of Fame (10 weeks of advancing votes; automatically retired from chart):
Björk - "Black Lake" (Weeks 4 - 13)
Courtney Barnett - "Pedestrian at Best" (Weeks 5 - 14)
Father John Misty - "I Love You, Honeybear" (Weeks 7 - 16)
Sufjan Stevens - "No Shade in the Shadow of the Cross" (Weeks 8 - 17)
Courtney Barnett - "Depreston" (Weeks 10 - 19)
Grimes - "REALiTi" (Demo) (Weeks 11 - 20)
Tame Impala - "Let It Happen" (Weeks 11 - 20)
Kendrick Lamar - "King Kunta" (Weeks 12 - 21)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "Piss Crowns Are Trebled" (Weeks 13 - 22)
Alabama Shakes - "Gimme All Your Love" (Weeks 18 - 27)
Sufjan Stevens - "Fourth of July" (Weeks 18 - 27)
Tame Impala - "Eventually" (Weeks 22 - 31)
Florence + The Machine - "Ship to Wreck" (Weeks 24 - 33)
Beck - "Dreams" (Weeks 25 - 34)
Beach House - "Sparks" (Weeks 27 - 36)
Julia Holter - "Feel You" (Weeks 28 - 37)
CHVRCHES - "Leave a Trace" (Weeks 29 - 38)
Kacey Musgraves - "Biscuits" (Weeks 29 - 38)
Joanna Newsom - "Sapokanikan" (Weeks 33 - 42)
Deafheaven - "Brought to the Water" (Weeks 34 - 43)
Mbongwana Star - "Suzanna" (Weeks 34 - 43)
Julia Holter - "Sea Calls Me Home" (Weeks 37 - 46)
Joanna Newsom - "Leaving the City" (Weeks 39 - 48)
Julia Holter - "Silhouette" (Weeks 40 - 49)
Beach House - "Elegy to the Void" (Weeks 44 - 1)
Grimes - "Flesh Without Blood" (Weeks 44 - 1)

Songs that entered the chart in 2015 will be added to the 2015 Hall of Fame, rather than the 2016 Hall of Fame.

Here is this week's 18-song Spotify chart (with 2 songs included below via YouTube link):

Here is your 2016 AMF Chart playlist of all songs on the chart so far this year:

Thank you all for voting and nominating continuously every week! Please don't be afraid to supply us with nominations - all songs six months old and younger (or who have received promotion via album/video/single in the last six months) are accepted! And seconding nominations by others gives those songs a better chance at making the next poll!

As per usual, the next poll will be created as close to Sunday at 19:00 UTC as I can make it. Best of voting! :D

As I noted above, thanks everyone for the strong turnout for our (sort of) 100th anniversary chart! Hopefully we can keep the ball rolling for the year to come :D

Apologies to Otisredding - the first two of your nominations appeared to fall out of the six month time period for noms, but the third one didn't, so I included that one on the chart this week. Hope it satisfies! :greetings-waveyellow:

Fine (I did not know this requirement).

It's a shame because I think Muero de amor - La Bien Querida could have gotten two votes (mine and some other).

I don't believe that it would be the first time on the Chart that the #1 song doubles the point value of the #2 song, and it definitely isn't the first time the top two songs are the same artist. But still, as I'm continuing my sorrowful mourning haze, it's a remarkable thing to witness how everyone in the world is honoring the man. This Chart seems to be a simple, effective way of doing so.

Yes, both Blackstar and Lazarus are fine songs, but get even stronger once you know Bowie wrote them in the dying process.

My nominations:
Public Memory - Ringleader
Suede - Pale Snow

I nominate

Erik Lundin - Suedi

I hope others can enjoy this even if it's Swedish rap. Amazing production (and the lyrics are fantastic too).

I generally keep it a rule of mine to not vote in the Chart - I like that it's run by the Forum public that visit weekly rather than it's creator. But I do very much love "Muero de Amor," one of my favorite Latin songs from the past year. I hope it would have done well :music-listening:

Don't understand much of it, Henrik, but it sounds quite enjoyable and a relief to hear that in Swedish a lot of words rhyme too. :)
The second track Annie Lööf from the Suedi EP also sounds interesting... and again, no clue what the song is about.

Absolutely Steherex! I gotta say that this weeks chart has been the toughest for me. From top to bottom a great group of tracks. Had to honor the great David Bowie. A talent and legend that will never be replicated. Such a shame to have lost him but what an incredible, graceful and wonderful farewell gift he left us.

Erik Lundin's father is from Gambia. "Suedi" means "Swedish" in Arabic. He hated and was ashamed to be called "Suedi" when he was young, but later in life he decided to be Swedish and be proud of it.

Annie Lööf is a Swedish politician.

I'd like to nominate Daughters - Doing The Right Thing.

I realise this has been out a while (since September), but with their album just out I think it makes sense to nominate now.

I second that nomination, one of the highlights of the new album.
And since the single was released less than 6 months ago, it should still be eligible to enter the chart.
