Post by Setherex »

Welcome to Week 35 of the AMF Chart! The chart where I'm perpetually late. But the real question is, does anyone notice?

19. HEALTH - "Stonefist" (1)
19. Watkins Family Hour - "Steal Your Heart Away" (1)
Total Votes: 75

Congratulations to Beck's "Dreams" for entering our Hall of Fame! Considering the waves it's making now, I would consider "Dreams" a mainstream pop song, and probably one of the first few mainstream pop songs to really make an impact in our chart. Good times. Also, I'm aware I'm a little late with this week, but the MegaCritic songs from Aug. 31 will be charted in next week. Just for consistency, really. Due to the tie for 10th place, as well as Beck's automatic retirement from the chart, the top 11 songs from last week's chart went through to this week's.

2015 Chart-Toppers by Week (by vote count, not chart position; total weeks atop chart in parentheses):
1. Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" (2) / Kanye West feat. Paul McCartney - "Only One"
2. Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" (3)
3. Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" (4)
4. Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" (5) / Belle and Sebastian - "Nobody's Empire"

Here is this week's 18-song Spotify chart (with 2 songs included below via YouTube link):

Here is your 2015 AMF Chart playlist of all songs on the chart so far this year:

Thank you all for voting and nominating continuously every week! Please don't be afraid to supply us with nominations - all songs six months old and younger (or who have received promotion via album/video/single in the last six months) are accepted! And seconding nominations by others gives those songs a better chance at making the next poll!

As per usual, the next poll will be created as close to Sunday at 19:00 UTC as I can make it. Best of voting! :D

Hey Seth! I notice! Always appreciate the great job you do here. Been turned on to a lot of tunes I might have otherwise missed. I hear'ya on Beck's 'Dreams' being the first mainstream popular song to tear up our charts. Coulda/Should'a also happened with The Weeknd's 'Can't Feel My Face'.

I have to admit, I've been wrong more times than I'd like about what songs appeal to the AM voters enough to make our Hall of Fame. "Can't Feel My Face" is a very worthy contender, I agree, but I'm not surprised at all by its absence. Though I do have to say, most of the songs that make an appearance in the Hall are songs that would also fit well near the top of our EOY charts - so high compliments to everyone's taste! The one exception to that, of course, would be Jon Allen's "Night and Day," which came out of nowhere last year. Great jam, though :D

I forgot to mention in the main post, but Beach House just narrowly missed breaking the record for most consecutive weeks atop the chart! It currently holds the record at six weeks, tied with Alvvays and Sufjan Stevens. Shame, a very deserving song for the title. However, Beach House still has the opportunity to break Grimes' seven weeks atop the chart total record - an accomplishment it appears very on track for.

Hi Setherex,

Not that it probably would've gotten many votes, but it appears that you've handicapped Rob Thomas' track out the gate. It's not posted on the Spotify list. I'm gonna vote for it anyway ... :angry-nono: LOL

The only one of my nominations to ever make it past the second week.... :(

Today I'll Nominate "We Were Here" by Boy, which everyone can ignore and not vote for as usual. ;)

Big apologies, Rdwd! I have no idea how that happened actually, haha. But the problem is fixed.

Aww. And a great nomination it was, Doc. I was just reflecting on the point that "Night and Day" is the only song to make the Hall of Fame that never really appeared on the EOY charts in any form, either by song or artist. It's a truly hidden gem ;)

I haven't kept track of how many of my noms made the Hall of Fame, actually. All I know is that I've had my fair share of zero vote entries
