I Don't Know How to Love Him by Yvonne Elliman is from 1970, not 1971.

Franco's artist page is broken.

Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
"Lead Belly" should be two words.
Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
Scott Joplin's artist page is broken.
Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
Don't know if this has already been fixed in the inofficial update, but Pitchfork's "favourite albums from the 90's" doesn't seem to match the one on their website. As an example, the one currently listed in AM has Little Earthquakes in the top 10, which isn't the case for the current list at Pitchfork.

Pitchfork released two different 90's albums list, one from 1999 and one from 2003.Ulysses wrote:Don't know if this has already been fixed in the inofficial update, but Pitchfork's "favourite albums from the 90's" doesn't seem to match the one on their website. Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
The track by Explosions in the Sky is called First Breath After Coma, not First Breath After Comma
Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
Shouldn't the older one then be discounted? It would seem reasonable to assume that the newer list is the official and the legitimate one.Bang Jan wrote:Pitchfork released two different 90's albums list, one from 1999 and one from 2003.Ulysses wrote:Don't know if this has already been fixed in the inofficial update, but Pitchfork's "favourite albums from the 90's" doesn't seem to match the one on their website. Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
I won't do that, just like I won't remove all NME's and Rolling Stone's all time lists except the last ones. But I have a method to downweight multiple lists from the same source. An album that appears on two or more lists from the same source get some extra points for the repeated acclaim, but it's not a doubled score.Ulysses wrote:Shouldn't the older one then be discounted? Actually, I was kinda hoping that this was not the same error, to give this wonderful soundtrack a further boost on AM.

I yet Did it months ago but i didn't think they were not on AM.
See Cuesta sheet on excel file.
0.5 in column D means they came from albums compilations.

Why is the Stay With Me Remix specified for Biggie's "One More Chance"? Doesn't AM count all versions/remixes as one song? In that vein, "One More Chance" was originally released in 1994.

I've wondered this about a lot of albums of artists from the late fifties/ early sixties. Many of them are collections of singles of previous years and most of them are listed as compilations at Rate Your Music.PlasticRam wrote:Maybe this has been answered already, but why Howlin' Wolf's two albums are on AM when both RYM and Wiki list them as compilations?
Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
I wouldn't put too much stock in how RYM has them listed at the moment. I've been an RYM user for almost a decade and seen lots of titles there arbitrarily switched back and forth between album and compilation, between single and EP, etc depending on the whims of the corrections submitter and whichever mod happens to be around to approve the change.Rob wrote:I've wondered this about a lot of albums of artists from the late fifties/ early sixties. What I think would be more important to consider is whether the title in question is considered a valid album on the various critics lists that AM compiles.
For example, after being listed as a regular album for years, RYM recently changed Bo Diddley's self-titled 1958 album into a compilation. Yet most music critics rightfully consider it a proper debut album. (which is why it appears here at all-time #710)

These albums just walk a very thin line between real album and compilation. If I recall correctly, the Bo Diddley album contains singles from various years. Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
Henrik's rule about compilations as of today is that any album on which most of the material has not been released on other albums/LPs before (as far as I know, the definition of "most" has been kept vague) is considered eligible, regardless of whether it's generally perceived as a compilation or not. Technically, it means that albums like the Anthology of American Folk Music or Robert Johnson's King of the Delta Blues Singers should be eligible today, but they have been grandfathered out of AM.net because back when the site was started, Henrik's rules were not as clearly made up. It's a shame, but that's how it is.Rob wrote:These albums just walk a very thin line between real album and compilation. I wouldn't put too much stock in how RYM has them listed at the moment. I've been an RYM user for almost a decade and seen lots of titles there arbitrarily switched back and forth between album and compilation, between single and EP, etc depending on the whims of the corrections submitter and whichever mod happens to be around to approve the change.

I think Henrik once said it would be too much work because it would basically be necessary:Rob wrote:Wouldn't it be possible to retroactively get them back in?Pierre wrote:Henrik's rule about compilations as of today is that any album on which most of the material has not been released on other albums/LPs before (as far as I know, the definition of "most" has been kept vague) is considered eligible, regardless of whether it's generally perceived as a compilation or not. Technically, it means that albums like the Anthology of American Folk Music or Robert Johnson's King of the Delta Blues Singers should be eligible today, but they have been grandfathered out of AM.net because back when the site was started, Henrik's rules were not as clearly made up. It's a shame, but that's how it is.Rob wrote:
These albums just walk a very thin line between real album and compilation. If I recall correctly, the Bo Diddley album contains singles from various years. Not that I mind them being included, though.
1. To reassess which albums are compilations and which are not
2. Most importantly, to check every single critic list ever added to AM.net to track all the entries
3. And to double check to see if the lists which don't feature compilations were not initially posted with the compilations taken out, as some AMers kindly wanted to spare Henrik the work of hunting down the compilations himself.
Given that AM.net currently features more than 1000 critics' lists (as the main page itself mentions), it would be a monumental chore.
