There are two pages for the band Soulwax, but the first one links to 2manydj's.
Both bands are essentially the same, so I think you can add them together as "Soulwax/2manydj's"?

I wanted to merge them, but didn't do it adequately. They are still ranked as different artists, and I don't want to re-run the artist ranking unless a more serious error is found. Until next update I will just move 2manydj's to their place in the artist A-Z.Chilton wrote:There are two pages for the band Soulwax, but the first one links to 2manydj's.

St. Vincent- Strange Mercy and Jimmy Cliff- The Harder They Come are both listed as being at #535, thought the later is not so on the spreadsheet. I'm not sure, but does that push out Siouxsie and The Banshees-A Kiss in the Dreamhouse which is currently at 3000?

Reminder for the next update.
Listyguy wrote:I think if nothing else the albums should be listed on those artists' pages on the website, so people that are searching the site can find those albums with more ease.JR wrote:I believe I've asked before, but I forgot the response. Ever strongly considered including Saturday Night Fever and The Bodyguard for the Bee Gees and Whitney Houston, respectively? They're both heavily associated with the albums (Bee Gees have six of 17 tracks on SNF- with two other songs on the album written by them- and Houston has six of 12 on the U.S. edition of TBG). In turn, the Recording Industry Association of America credits them with those albums. (Billboard also includes TBG when talking about Whitney Houston's chart info- not sure about BG/SNF).
I'd strongly support such a move if it were to happen the future.

Henrik,
Thanks for the update! I look forward to examining the song list year by year over the next several months. I noticed a mistake in 1984. "The Reflex" should be in 1983. It was released as a single in 1984, but it was part of the Seven and the Ragged Tiger LP, which was released in fall of 1983.

It used to be credited under "featuring Dido", but a couple years ago I suggested to Henrik that since it's not really a feature, only a sample, it didn't make sense for Dido to take credit for the song.Setherex wrote:"Stan" is credited under Eminem rather than Eminem feat. Dido.

This is fixed now. The problem occurred for albums made by more than one AM artist. So VU&Nico is now also in the rock list for example.

Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
If I recall correctly, what Henrik has been known to do with songs that feature other artists is to allow the song to impact the featured artist's AM rank in an amount proportionate to the amount that the featured artist contributed to the song. So in the case of, (say for example) "Umbrella" by Rihanna featuring Jay-Z, the song counts for (for example) 80% Rihanna, 20% Jay-Z. Maybe something like this could be done for "Stan", where the song is nominally credited to Eminem featuring Dido, but when it comes to artist rankings, the song counts for 100% Eminem, 0% Dido. Eminem and Dido's artist rankings would therefore remain unchanged. Just a thought.Bruno wrote:But it is officially credited. I think this way is unfair with Dido.Nick wrote:It used to be credited under "featuring Dido", but a couple years ago I suggested to Henrik that since it's not really a feature, only a sample, it didn't make sense for Dido to take credit for the song.Setherex wrote:"Stan" is credited under Eminem rather than Eminem feat. But even this opens up a can of worms, in my opinion. Jay-Z and Kanye West's song "Otis" is credited as "featuring Otis Redding", who was dead decades before the song's release. And Kanye West's song "I Am a God" is credited as "featuring God". Should we make an artist page for God in that case?
Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
No, I don't think it's necessary to create an artist page for God and credit him (it? Hmm). But if the song is actually credited to Otis, God, Dido on the official release, it seems a bit odd to me that we completely ignore that when we so diligently record the titles under which other songs were released. Like how we credit all of Prince's songs to either "Prince" or "Prince and The Revolution," though The Revolution isn't getting its own artist credits.Nick wrote:But even this opens up a can of worms, in my opinion. I think the 100% Eminem 0% Dido thing is a fine behind-the-scenes compromise - whatever Henrik thinks appropriate. It doesn't even necessarily need to appear on her artist page in that case (though that might be a point of contention). But crediting the song to "Eminem" rather than "Eminem feat. Dido" just appears wrong to me, after seeing it credited otherwise so many times.
Also, a few things from around the site which should probably be noticed/changed if we're keeping a golden standard going:
- Kanye West's "Monster" is credited to Rick Ross but doesn't appear on his artist page.
- Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie" is credited to Justin Timberlake, rather than Justin Timberlake feat. Jay-Z.
- Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild" includes uncredited vocals by The-Dream, who contributes to the song about as much as Frank Ocean does, despite the fact that only Ocean received an official feature credit for it. I would argue that if we're giving Ocean credit for his contributions to the song, The-Dream should likewise receive credit.
- Similarly, Kanye West's "New Slaves" doesn't officially credit him, but Frank Ocean does feature fairly significantly on that song as well.
- Junkie XL's remix of "A Little Less Conversation," credited to Junkie XL vs. Elvis Presley, appears on both Junkie XL and Presley's pages, despite that Presley had died long before the song's release.
- The above case is the same for Acid Pauli's remix of Johnny Cash's "I See a Darkness" titled "I See a Dark(er)ness."
- Kanye West's "Gold Digger" is credited to Kanye West, rather than Kanye West feat. Jamie Foxx.
- Kanye West's "Mercy" is credited to Big Sean, Kanye West, Pusha T and 2 Chainz, though doesn't appear on Big Sean or Pusha T's artist pages.
- Icona Pop's "I Love It" is credited to Icona Pop (feat. Charli XCX), with the extraneous parentheses for some reason, but doesn't appear on Charli XCX's artist page.
- Daft Punk's "Giorgio by Moroder" is credited solely to Daft Punk. I don't know if the official releases include a feature by Giorgio Moroder, but it should definitely appear on his artist page anyway, in my opinion
- Daft Punk's "Doin' It Right" is credited to Daft Punk, rather than Daft Punk feat. Panda Bear.
- The Disclosure remix of "F for You" is credited on the site solely as the remix version feat. Mary J. Blige, though some of the end-of-year lists included are credited towards the original pre-remix version without her vocal on it. I'm not sure what Henrik's standard is on that one, though. Also, the song is listed under the 2013 page when the remix itself didn't release until 2014. The original version released with the album in 2013.
- Kanye West's "Runaway" is credited to Pusha T but doesn't appear on his artist page.
- Rihanna's "We Found Love" is credited to Calvin Harris but doesn't appear on his artist page.
- Gotye's artist page was changed back from "Gotye (feat. Kimbra)" to just "Gotye," but the song listing itself for "Somebody That I Used to Know" still includes those unnecessary parentheses.
- There are also extraneous parentheses on Major Lazer (feat. Amber Coffman)'s "Get Free" and Zebra Katz (feat. Njena Reddd Foxxx)'s "Ima Read."
- The spacing on DJ Khaled's "I'm on One" is messed up, listing it as "DJ Khaledfeat.Drake,Rick Ross, andLil Wayne."
- Kanye West's "All of the Lights" is credited to Kanye West, rather than Kanye West feat. Rihanna. Though also, the song features uncredited vocals by The-Dream, Elton John, Alicia Keys, Kid Cudi and John Legend. Again, we should probably be following some kind of standard for this sort of thing.
- I like what Henrik did with Beyoncé's "Flawless," listing it under the song page as artist credit "Beyoncé feat. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie / Nicki Minaj" and as song title "***Flawless / Flawless (Remix)," but only appearing on Nicki Minaj's artist page as "Flawless (Remix)." If this is the standard going forward, then iLoveMakonnen's "Tuesday" shouldn't have Drake's credit under the song's title like it currently does, and should be listed under Drake's artist page as "Tuesday (Remix)."
- Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Otis" is credited as such, rather than as Jay-Z and Kanye West feat. Otis Redding - "Otis" (but noting that Otis Redding should not receive credit for his feature).
- Kanye West's "I Am a God" is credited as such, rather than as Kanye West feat. God - "I Am a God" (but noting that God should not receive credit for its feature).
- Eminem's "Stan" is credited as such, rather than as Eminem feat. Dido - "Stan" (but noting that Dido should not receive credit for her feature).
- Run the Jewels' "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)" is credited as such, rather than as Run the Jewels feat. Zack de la Rocha - "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)."
- Just a note, if Otis Redding is indeed going to be credited for his feature on Kanye West's "Otis," I would make a similar case for giving credit to King Crimson for the sample used on Kanye West's "Power," and Nina Simone on Kanye West's "Blood on the Leaves," despite neither artist being officially credited on those songs.
- Another argument could be made regarding songs like "Blurred Lines," which had that sampling-credit trial, as we all remember. I don't personally support this particular case, but Marvin Gaye could potentially be cited as having enough significant writing influence on the song to be listed on his artist page.
- Similarly (and again, I'm not entirely supporting this argument personally), in the case of an artist who hadn't already been dead, The-Dream contributed significantly to writing songs such as Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)." Because it isn't a feature credit, these songs obviously aren't included on The-Dream's artist page, but one may argue that his contributions to the songs exceed those of artists who actually receive feature credits (such as Jay-Z's on "Umbrella," for example).
Long story short, this site confuses me, haha. I think it would probably be best going forward that Henrik create a general standard by which we judge who receives credit on what, and who is listed on what.
EDIT: Anything listed in italics is now an unnecessary change, if we go with the standards that I mention in my next post on this topic.

Re: Errors in the 2015 Update
In light of this "should featured artists have credits on their own pages" discussion, all I can say is, thank God "The Intro and the Outro" by The Bonzo Dog Band isn't included on this site.
"Count Basie Orchestra on triangle! [ding] Thank you."
"Looking very relaxed, Adolf Hitler on vibes!"
"Roy Rogers on Trigger!"
