Well, it might be less. Remember, all Henrik said was that it would be sometime before the end of August. Heck, it could just as easily be 12 hours.

But yeah, probably closer to 12 days... :D
You're right

Ahh.. I saw this, pretty impressive:

You don't say... :o

One question, you say that you're adding the Crossroads lists, but it stops in 1999, although there's also a final 2000-2009 list (posted in the same topic as the others). Does this mean that you're not adding the last one this time around or did you simply forget to mention it?

You got me worried there, but that list is actually already included on AM.

Whoah Henrik, what a crazy amount of list!

Just for our imagination, can you give us the biggest climb this year for an album and song in the top 500 (without the name of the album or song) ?

You know Henrik, when I posted this list back then, I half-believed that it would never be added, because of the ridiculous amount of new entries to add to your files. Given this factor and the health issues you've talked us about, I'm pretty stunned you added it.

Color me both impressed and very, very grateful for your work. Anything you need, just ask, I'll be happy to help you further in the future :greetings-waveyellow:

Wow Henrik, fantastic amount of work despite your pain in your back...I can't wait to see the results...The jazz section will certainly improve and the same can be said for the french rock albums and songs (oh, it's FLORENT MAZZOLENI by the way with just one N...)
http://www.babelio.com/auteur/Florent-Mazzoleni/14410
Glad also that you found the time to include these CROSSROADS lists that I sent you a long time ago...I genuinely hope you will be galvanized by all the people that will thank you after this update so that you can keep working on this unique mindblowing project...Greetings to your family that must be supporting you with this site.

One album in the top 500 climbs more than 100 places.
One album in the top 200 drops more than 50 places.
One bubbling under album almost makes the top 1000.
One bubbling under song almost makes the top 1500.

15 songs in the current top 6000 will climb more than half their way to the top. How many can you guess?

This one seems pretty obvious (at least to me). It's a very, very recent album.

If this isn't the album I'm thinking of, I would be extremely surprised.

You just reminded me about how Black Messiah is going to be improperly low on the list, and will have to wait until next year to claim its rightful place (top 500 would be great!).

I think we are thinking of the same album. I was going to say which album that was but predictions would be cliché. Or I may have already said it.

For the drops, I would say : Animal Collective : Merriweather Post Pavilion, it's like this album disappear of the collective memory.

1: Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson
2: Dunno... I was going for "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" but Romain is right, "Merriweather Post Pavilion" is a more likely candidate
3: Beyoncé - Beyoncé
4: I would bet on either The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" or David Bowie's "Always Crashing in the Same Car". Really random bets though...

I agree with Pierre's choices; for the song I'd guess "Happy" by Pharrell Williams

Long-time members might remember me complaining over problems with my back, neck and arms/hands several years ago. Since then my problems have overall worsened rather than disappeared. In 2012 I got a pain in my feet that has been so bad that I haven't been able to walk or (especially) stand very much since then. I had to cancel a holiday trip in 2013 with Dan, Honorio and Nicolas because of my feet. :( I still haven't met Dan! :( :(

The feet pain took over some of the back pain, so sitting has been better than standing during these years, and therefore I have continued to spend a lot of time at my computer.

During 2012-2014 most doctors believed that I had plantar fasciitis, but everything I did to get rid of the plantar fasciitis (stretching etc) only worsened the pain.

But since this winter I run in water almost every day, which has improved my condition and blood circulation, and is probably the main reason why the feet are slowly getting better now. The training has been quite tough for the rest of my stiff body though, so I have rested a lot during the last months. And when I have spent time at the computer I have often felt that my body really doesn't like it. Any static or monotonous work, standing or sitting, is a bit difficult at the moment. Especially in the evenings (i.e. my spare time) when my body is tired.

No doctor has been able to explain the source to my pain, but I might have just recently found it myself: Ankylosing spondylitis, which progresses slowly, usually in the lower back and sometimes also cause pain in the plantar fasciitis.

I hope you agree with me that my health is more important than the website. I haven't given up hope though. I will try to get some work done during my summer holiday. The annoying thing is that before I slowed down (stopped, actually) the work on the site, I worked on some great site enhancements that I really want to share with you!

I have also included a lot of all-time lists, but I have not added any additional pre-2014 albums or songs which is a very timeconsuming bit. I think I will have to skip that. Also, I haven't included the 2014 EOY lists to the all-time data yet. That's necessary of course, so that's the main work left.

It might be difficult to share any of the work, but I'll see what I can do if anyone wants to help.
It's time for an update on this. It wasn't Ankylosing spondylitis.

I have both good news and bad news.

The good news is that my feet and my back are slowly getting better. I can take walks without being too worried that my feet will get worse. I still have the pain, but even in situations when the feet hurt a lot things usually get back to "normal" next day.

The bad news is that I get a terrible headache and sore eyes from sitting at the computer. I am beginning to think that it's some kind of allergic reaction. It is better at work or on the mobile, but at home I get the headache after only a few minutes. I have one of the most recommended monitors (DELL U2412M), but I might be particulary sensitive to this monitor. I have to sort this out.

I think these trends might be related. I see that I didn't even mention this in the post above, but I have had this headache more or less constantly over many years and as a result this might have affected the pain reaction system of the brain. At least it's quite clear (but I have not been willing to admit) that over the years I have felt better during periods of less computer time. During the last year I have been using my PC a lot less. Nowadays I mostly read and reply to forum posts on my mobile. It feels as if I'm moving out from a negative zone, but the better the situation gets the more obvious it becomes that sitting at the home PC is really bad for me. Every time I have updated the EOY spreadsheet I have gotten the headache back which also makes it really difficult to sleep afterwards.

I will continue to post in the forum from my mobile and hopefully I can find another monitor that is better for my eyes/head. Or some treatment, new glasses... Until then I need to take a complete time out from all AM update work. Sorry, but that's the situation.

Well, as usual, we will all agree your health comes first ! The updates can wait !

That being said, have you considered training one or 2 other persons at how to manage the website so they can either ease the burden or maybe at some point even take over ? (not saying we want you gone any time soon, but we will need someone to make the 2087 update !)

Henrik
As I understand it, your health is slowly improving. That's good of course.
I haven't followed all of the discussions here on the forum regarding your back, leg and feet problems, but what helps for me is riding a bike. Hometrainer even. When using a hometrainer, I try standing up, Contador style. The first minutes can be a bit painful, but after 5 minutes, all my backaches slip away.
Regarding the headaches: I would try a PC or laptop with a very small screen.

No need to apologize, Henrik. You've given us so much of yourself, for almost fifteen years now, that you've more than earned the right to take as long a break as you need.

We've had long breaks between updates before, of course. At different recent points, there's been a three-year gap between updates of both the all-time album and all-time song lists. This forum and the EOY tabulations have more than sufficed to keep us going during those periods.

I have often wondered over the years - and I'm sure I'm not alone in this - how long Henrik might be able/willing to keep updating AM on a regular basis. With a family, a full-time "regular job-type job" (to quote Mr. Blonde), and these ongoing health issues on top of all that, I'm continually surprised that he's updated as frequently as he has.

However long this lasts, it's been a gift. Hope you feel better soon, Henrik!

Harold said everything as perfectly as it can be said. I just appreciate all that you've done for us over the years, and look more forward to any participation from you in our forum discussions and polls than the massive work of the site updates. Take good care of yourself, Henrik, and I hope you feel better soon. Everything else is secondary.
