1. St. Vincent - Actor vs. The Roots - Thins Fall Apart
2. Jethro Tull - Stand Up vs. The Black Keys - El Camino
3. Style Council - Our Favourite Shop vs. The Chills - Brave Words
4. Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld vs. Pepe Deluxe - Queen Of The Wave

Luckily got this weeks listening in before Grooveshark went down. The last match-up was the closest and most rewarding.

Not a good week for Spotify.

El Camino isn't available on Spotify in this region. Here it is on YouTube:
Here is the start to a YouTube playlist for Queen of the Wave:

Phil already covered Hypnotic Underworld on YouTube. I can't find Brave Words there.

St Vincent - Actor 89-85
The Black Keys - El Camino 81-65

Style Council is 77, Pepe Deluxe is 91, hearing the other two will be more problematic with Grooveshark gone.

Is there something evil about this site that you guys haven't told me about? I've used it to listen to many albums for months now with no problems.

For these three, obvious choices for me.

1. St. Vincent - Actor (2009) vs. The Roots - Things Fall Apart (1999)
2. Jethro Tull - Stand Up (1969) vs. The Black Keys - El Camino (2011)
3. The Style Council - Our Favourite Shop (1985) vs. The Chills - Brave Words (1987)
4. Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld (2004) vs. Pepe Deluxé - Queen of the Wave (2012)

Hardest decision of the week: Clark vs. Trotter but also Anderson vs. Auerbach (I enjoyed "Stand Up" much more than I expected). A fantastic week overall.

I listened to the Chills album on it and it didn't work greatly. The songs kept stopping for a few seconds way too frequently. It's better than no alternative though.

I had a busy week, so I couldn't listen to each album twice as I usually do. It's a great group though, with only one mediocre album and no bad ones.

1. St. Vincent - Actor vs. The Roots - Things Fall Apart
I like the sound of the Roots and their above average lyrics, but something about the beautiful weirdness of Actor is hard to resist for me.

2. Jethro Tull - Stand Up vs. The Black Keys - El Camino
One of the toughest choices in this game so far. It's pretty much a tie. El Camino is a near-perfect rock album, but the Jethro Tull wins on originality. It's medieval sounding flutes are such a great addition.

3. Style Council - Our Favourite Shop vs. The Chills - Brave Words
The only really easy choice of the week. Brave Words was okay, but also something I instantly forgot about the minute it stopped playing. The Style Council was something of a surprise. I knew Shout It To the Top, a somewhat typical eighties power pop single and that didn't make me expect the variety of the complete album, which covers a lot of ground stylistically and has good lyrics to boot. Perhaps my favorite album of the week.

4. Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld vs. Pepe Deluxe - Queen Of The Wave
The last bracket each week contains unranked and not even bubbling albums, so it is a great place for unusual works to show up and this is a great example. Here more than elsewhere I'm sad I couldn't listen to the albums more than once this week, because this could swing either way and both are rich and surprising enough to perhaps need another listen. I go with Ghost. Pepe Deluxe is great fun from a band that clearly likes to mix styles, but the more seriously minded experimentation in genre on Hypnotic Underworld tend to hit me more.

Jethro Tull - Stand Up
The Chills - Brave Words
Pepe Deluxe - Queen Of The Wave
Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld
Style Council - Our Favourite Shop
St. Vincent - Actor

St. Vincent - Actor vs. The Roots - Thins Fall Apart

These two were fantastic albums, Annie has the edge with familiarity though.
