AMF Chart Week 2 2015

Post by Setherex »

Welcome to Week 2 of the AMF Chart! The chart where I'm already late to making a new topic - the year is starting off healthy.

Here are your rankings for Week 1 (number of weeks on the chart so far in parentheses):
1. Kanye West feat. Paul McCartney - "Only One" (1)
2. Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" (5)
3. Laura Marling - "Short Movie" (1)
4. Grimes feat. Blood Diamonds - "Go" (2)
5. The Decemberists - "Lake Song" (3)
6. Sharon Van Etten - "Your Love Is Killing Me" (4)
7. Sharon Van Etten - "Every Time the Sun Comes Up" (8)
8. Allah-Las - "Ferus Gallery" (1)
9. Metronomy - "Love Letters" (3)
10. alt-J - "Left Hand Free" (8)
11. Miguel feat. Kurupt - "nwa" (1)
11. San Fermin - "Parasites" (1)
13. D'Angelo and The Vanguard - "Sugah Daddy" (3)
14. Run the Jewels feat. Zack de la Rocha - "Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)" (5)
15. Damien Rice - "It Takes a Lot to Know a Man" (8)
16. Lady Lamb the Beekeepers - "Billions of Eyes" (1)
17. One Direction - "Fireproof" (1)
17. Steve Earle & The Dukes - "You're the Best Lover That I Ever Had" (1)
17. Tinashe - "Wildfire" (1)
20. All Dogs - "Georgia" (1)
Total Votes: 73

The top 10 songs from last week's chart moved on to this week's. Personally, I find both of Sharon Van Etten's songs consistently placing within the top 10 as a solid argument to the "Can an artist have two songs on the chart?" question. If they are strong enough, they can get by on their own merits. A sad goodbye to Damien Rice, however, who doesn't seem to have said merits on his eighth week outing.

2015 Chart-Toppers by Week (by vote count, not chart position; total weeks atop chart in parentheses):
1. Alvvays - "Archie, Marry Me" (2) / Kanye West feat. Paul McCartney - "Only One"

2014 Hall of Fame (10 weeks of advancing votes; automatically retired from chart):
St. Vincent - "Digital Witness" (Week 1-14)
Warpaint - "Love Is to Die" (Week 1-11)
Sun Kil Moon - "Richard Ramirez Died Today of Natural Causes" (Week 2-14)
tUnE-yArDs - "Water Fountain" (Week 9-18)
Future Islands - "Seasons (Waiting on You)" (Week 10-19)
The War on Drugs - "Under the Pressure" (Week 10-19)
Lana Del Rey - "West Coast" (Week 15-24)
The Black Keys - "Weight of Love" (Week 16-25)
Owen Pallett - "The Riverbed" (Week 17-26)
Jon Allen - "Night and Day" (Week 18-27)
First Aid Kit - "My Silver Lining" (Week 19-28)
Spoon - "Do You" (Week 22-31)
Interpol - "All the Rage Back Home" (Week 25-34)
Röyksopp & Robyn - "Every Little Thing" (Week 27-36)
Sun Kil Moon - "Micheline" (Week 28-37)
Leonard Cohen - "Almost Like the Blues" (Week 31-40)
Sharon Van Etten - "Our Love" (Week 31-40)
Spoon - "Outlier" (33-42)

Songs that entered the chart in 2014 will be added to the 2014 Hall of Fame, rather than the 2015 Hall of Fame.

Here is this week's 18-song Spotify chart (with 1 song included below via YouTube link, and 1 via external link):

Kanye West feat. Paul McCartney - "Only One"
Here is your 2015 AMF Chart playlist of all songs on the chart so far this year:

Thank you all for voting and nominating continuously every week! Please don't be afraid to supply us with nominations - all songs six months old and younger (or who have received promotion via album/video/single in the last six months) are accepted! And seconding nominations by others' gives those songs a better chance at making the next poll!

As per usual, the next poll will be created as close to Sunday at 19:00 GMT as I can make it. Best of voting! :D

As usual when I'm late in making the topic, the poll is cut down to six days so it can still end on Sunday.

Also, sorry I didn't mention Doc, but The Amazing's "Picture You" was already nominated last year. In it's place, I took a 10th nomination from the week prior.

A reminder to get your votes, nominations, and seconding of nominations in before the new poll is created tomorrow! We're a bit short on noms this week, so anything is appreciated :)

As much as I'd like to nominate the entirety of "No Cities to Love," I feel it's a bit healthier if I have more variety. Seconding Waxahatchee's "Air," as well as:
Purity Ring - "Begin Again"
Natalie Prass - "My Baby Don't Understand Me"
Raury feat. Malik Shakur - "Fly"

Nominations from my side:
1. Damien Rice - I Don't Want To Change You
2. Benjamin Clementine - London
3. Marina And The Diamonds - Immortal (this single was released on New Year's Day, a good day to realize that we're not immortal and we all should make the very best out of living together, regardless whether we are Charlie or muslim.)

Correction: I first wanted to nominate Condolence from Benjamin Clementine, but changed this into London (which I just heard for the first time and is really great). Cornerstone is also a great song by him, but was already released in 2013 ...

BTW, Setherex, just saw that this thread is called "AMF Chart Week 2 2014". Time does fly and we are indeed already arrived in good old 2015 ... ;)

Why did no one point this out to me earlier!? :x

One of those blind moments I suppose. I'm clearly living in the past.
