Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
We have come to the end of the Acclaimed Music Madness tournament with a final featuring the top two overall seeds (and the top two artists on Acclaimed Music). The Beatles have won all of their matches in decisive fashion, with their most competitive match being a 16-point victory over Jimi Hendrix. Meanwhile, Bob Dylan needed an overtime to defeat the Rolling Stones and a furious second-half comeback against Radiohead to reach the final. This poll closes around 6pm EST / 11pm GMT Sunday (the championship gets a later deadline).
Paths to final:
The Beatles
Round 1: def. 16) Sol Hoopii, 57-21
Round 2: def. 9) Jimi Hendrix, 45-29
Sweet 16: def. 4) Bruce Springsteen, 56-35
Elite 8: def. 2) Miles Davis, 74-37
Final Four: def. 1) Prince, 63-35
Bob Dylan
Round 1: def. 16) Steve Reich, 46-24
Round 2: def. 8) Ray Charles, 50-28
Sweet 16: def. 4) The Rolling Stones, 42-42 (OT: 13-11)
Elite 8: def. 3) Stevie Wonder, 62-39
Final Four: def. 1) Radiohead, 58-52
IMPORTANT: THE VOTING LIMITS VARY BY ROUND DUE TO FEWER MATCHES, MAKE SURE TO READ BELOW:
For each matchup, indicate which artist you prefer. Each vote will count as two points for that artist.
Championship Match*
1) The Beatles
1) Bob Dylan
I plan on doing a wrap-up post in the results thread, but in case you do not read it, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has voted and made this game into a success. I hope to run it around the same time next year (I already have a few changes in mind) so hopefully you guys will participate again.
* In case of a draw, voting will be extended by one day to increase the chances of members who have yet to vote participating. If still tied after the additional day, a sudden death round takes place with the next vote cast (even by someone who has already voted) being the decider (obviously, I will exclude myself from this sudden death round).

Re: Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
The Beatles and Bob Dylan have always been neck in neck for the title of my favorite artist ever, ironically enough.
This time I choose... Mr. Robert Zimmermann.
Thanks for hosting this game Jeff! It has been a fun couple of weeks.

Re: Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
It's a completely boring pick, but...The Beatles. (Not that either of these finalists could be considered shockers...)
Re: Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
Jeff, Thank You for hosting. I was hoping to see something new in the finals... Not surprised though...
Give me Bob Dylan...
Give me Bob Dylan...
Re: Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
Everybody probably guessed this would be the finale from the start but at least we can keep the tie itself exciting. Just for that alone I'm gonna have to pick Bob.
Re: Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
The expected final.
But I'll vote for the (hopefully) unexpected winner: Bob Dylan.

There is just under 23 hours to go for the championship. A single vote separates the two as I post this so votes definitely matter at this point.

That's the game! The Beatles have done it! The band everyone believed in come away with the expected result, defeating their opponent Bob Dylan 52-44. Final statistics and a brief review post to follow in the results thread.
Thanks everyone for voting.

Re: Acclaimed Music Madness: Championship
Congratulations Jeff for the game. You organized it perfectly. I liked especially the playlists, both the selections and the layout in this wordpress.com page. Many thanks!
