Much weaker group, somehow. Yesterday I didn't get to vote for Talking Heads, today they would make top 5.

All those great acts failed to make the next round. But, at least I get to vote against Pavement again.

Re: UMT 2012: Regional #2
Wow, this one was tough. I always start by eliminating the artists I don’t really care for. Last time that knocked out 7 right away. This time I only lost 1 (Pavement).
Rankings arrived at by awarding points based on the # of albums I’ve heard and liked at last half the tracks of (10) and also points per album track or single by them I like (+5). Albums exceeding 2/3 “liked” gained an extra 10 points. My reasoning is that although I almost never listen to an album straight through even if I DO like it (I am definitely an MP3 player on random kind of listener…) it takes a more concentrated effort to stack an album with great tracks and make it “work” together. I did the bonus 10 on a “percentage” basis…sometimes making a great album involves knowing what to leave out as much as what to put in.
EDIT: I agonized too long and didn't get them in in time but here they are for what it's worth. Looks like I might have saved Fleetwood Mac, Elton and perhaps the Temps if I'd finished sooner.
