I'm really hoping that "It's Album Time" makes a huge boost in the EOY lists. MCCh is useful, but it's by no means gospel. If I recall correctly, "Reflektor" and "Random Access Memories" placed pretty low on last year's MCCh, and they both ended up as two of the most acclaimed albums of the year when the EOY lists started rolling in. Terje has a lot of support from Pitchfork, and Pitchfork is an excellent bellwether when it comes to EOY placement.

The last MCCh of 2013 appears to be the November 30th update. Look at the low placement of some of 2013's heavy hitters.

On the other hand, some albums that ranked really low come EOY time ended up super high on the MCCh chart, like "Nepenthe", which was number 8 on the MCCh chart, but isn't even bubbling under on AM.

Yeah, it should go without saying that MCCH is mostly useful DURING the year. Once EOY lists roll out and that spreadsheet gets made, I consider that spreadsheet to usurp MCCH. MCCH is my main resource before that point.

I of course don't take the rankings as gospel (and that goes for AM). As a rule, I listen to everything that is above 75, and then I make my own judgments. I use MCCH as a guide for new things to listen to, but what survives on my playlists is entirely up to me.
