Artists who would most benefit from an album expansion

Post by Jonathon »

I'm still going through, but right now the artists who would benefit most from an album expansion similar to the song expansion we just got, based on how many new albums would count towards their artist ranking is:

1. The Flaming Lips- 5 (Would cause them to go from an alt/ indie band with a couple of great albums, to an alt/ indie act with a great run, a'la Sonic Youth, Wilco, Beck. Not sure it would cause them to jump into the album top 50, but they'd probably get at least a 20 rank jump on the album list, and a big jump on the big list.)
2. Bonnie "Prince" Billy- 5 (In the relatively uncompetitive Sub-top 200 range, Oldham getting 5 new ranked albums could push him close to the top 200, if not into it.)
3. Aretha Franklin- 4 (Lady Soul already has a very impressive album ranking of 54. Nearly doubling her number of ranked/ included in ranking albums would probably sky rocket her into the top 40 album artists, which could see her break the top 20 artists of all time.)
4. Al Green- 4 (Reverend Green used to have an album ranking of roughly 75 before the expansion from 6 albums to 9 albums. These bubblers might bring him back to that plateau.)
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers- 4 (I'm not a fan of this band, but it seems like all the bubblers becoming ranked would bump these guys big time.)
