I debated between three choices for my next nomination. They are all fairly recent, and all unacclaimed, but are in my opinion the best songs of their year.

I thought about Cryoshell's "Creeping in my Soul" (2007) and almost went with Birds of Tokyo's "Plans" (2010), but after hearing all three at once, and seeing this song was eligible, I knew I had to go with:

Temper Trap-Fader (2009):

Andres Segovia - Leyenda
Capital Cities - Safe and Sound

I'm highly indecisive about this pick...I figure more of you have heard "Safe and Sound", and I doubt a guitar solo would do well in this competition. Plus, I couldn't find a good video of it on youtube.

I would love to have picked this one too, but sadly it was also selected in the last edition and is ineligible now. It was actually selected by you then, too.

For my second nomination I decided to pick a song from my homecountry, The Netherlands. It's not in the Dutch language, but at least the lyrics couldn't come from somewhere else:
The Nits - In the Dutch Mountains

Apparently the lead singer believed as a child growing up in Amsterdam that beyond the city there would be mountains. There aren't, but this memory inspired the song, which re-imagines The Netherlands as a sort of fantasy landscape. Despite the short length the music makes it feel like an epic, with it's alternately stomping riffs and short wistful interludes. It's sort of prog-rock and a wonderful example of the genre.

Back when they were younger, a little more bad-ass, and not slicked up for the '80s. This is really fun, and surprisingly funky, stuff.

Well spotted! I am apparently quite the one-trick-pony when it comes to this game.

I would love to make my second nomination New Radical's Someday We'll Know, but we already have another song off that album. That whole album should be nominated probably, but let's keep things varied. I'll go with Leon Russell's Stranger in a Strange Land.

I was a little hesitant about this one because the Gorillaz are already represented in the game... Nah, Albarn isn't the highlight of the song to begin with.

My second nomination is "DoYaThing (Full Version)" by Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and James Murphy

For any newcomers, even if you did not nominate a song when we had 32, you are allowed 2 now! The reason being we can get to 64 faster that way. I just did a test to see how fast the turnout was.

And for nicholas, ANYTHING not on AM is eligible. You could nominate Beethoven if you wanted.

Great songs, guys! I've actually heard a few before nominating began. During the link uploading, I have now heard every song nominated, and there are no clear favorites!

58 down, only SIX to go! keep it coming and we can start this weekend at this rate.

OK, I have 2, both used in movies.
The first in "Diva", a french movie from the early eighties: Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez: aria from "La Wally" from "Diva" ('81)
The second in "The King of Comedy": Van Morrison - Wonderful Remark .The version I would like to nominate is the original 1972 version though, as it appears on the compilation of outtakes "The Philosopher's Stone
If the classical cut is not eligible, here's another cut: Beside - Change The Beat (French) [Female Version] an old school rap track.

Seriously, Tally Ho is not even Bubbling ??? Wow, the whole kiwi country should revolt !

Anyway, I was going to pick Broke by Modest Mouse but they already have a song in, and I realized that Bromst and Spiderman of the Ring are not even bubbling under (and that's a shame).
I was tempted to go with a song in Bromst (most likely the cartoon beat of Woof Woof, what a crazy song) but I'll go with :
Dan Deacon - Wham City (because we don't have enough 10 minutes + songs in yet...)

We now have a problem.

I was away for awhile, and we actually EXCEEDED the intended cap of 64!

I don't know what to do!

Here's how I approached it:

I am cutting it off at "Tally Ho!" because that DID slip my radar! Thanks McJagger.

Therefore, arcoramor's song was the 64th and nothing else counts after.

Sorry guys. I had something to do and I forgot to call it. Can anyone else propose a compromise?

I guess so. If you were to nominate a different song, I would say no, but this is a grace period, and I never made a rule against changing your vote.

But the thing is, is this song too new for the poll. YouTube says it was released this calendar year. Seems a little unfair to nominate something so recent. You have to confirm to me it's from at the very latest July 2013.

Alright, so now let's begin a "grace period". I have to work this weekend and cannot open the polls, so I decided to start the poll Thursday and extend it to August 17.

Between now and Thursday, though, I want all of you to do something for me. Look at the first post and check for errors. Check for names, links, and even eligibility.

And if something like this crops up, you may change ONE of your votes, but not both.

OK, the vote has been changed.

I should also tell you how I'm grouping the songs.

I took them as numbered, 1-64, and put them on my laptop's randomizer in groups of four. There was no rhyme or reason, the songs have been grouped completely at random to add an air of unpredictability and fun to it!

American Football joins the party in 2 Bears original slot.
