I've been playing "Jet" by Paul McCartney a lot today. I've heard the song before, but it's never really hit me until now. And now I can't stop listening to it.

Feeling very turn of the millennium today.
I wanted to reassess "Urban Hymns", mostly because it ranks so highly with many people here who's judgement I respect. I had dismissed it years ago as rather lightweight Britpop with a couple of radio-friendly singles. While I still thing it's a bit uneven, I gotta admit, it's better than I remembered.
As for "Bright Lights", it's every bit as good as I remembered, and a reminder that I spend far too little time on stuff in my collection in pursuit of new thrills.

Re: Now Playing
Does it leave up to the hype?
Re: Now Playing
As a cohesive whole, it certainly lives up to the hype, but only time will tell if it is as strong on a song by song basis (since that is how i listen to music)

Neil Young - Tonight's the Night (1975)
I just wanted to be one of those ghosts
You thought that you could forget
And then I haunt you via the rear view mirror
On a long drive from the back seat...

Re: Now Playing
I just finished this for the first time while I was (literally) lost and trying to find my way back home, and even though I was distracted and didn't give it my full focus, this was a fantastic listen

I don't know why but I cannot stop listening to this album. I'm in a trance of sorts.

*Black Up* by Shabazz Palaces
I've listened to *808s and Heartbreak*, *Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix* and *Merriweather Post Pavilion* for the first time recently, all of them were rather enjoyable, MPP was probably the most impactful based on one run through
Re: Now Playing
There's so many things going on around here (especially since school started up again), why not add getting caught up with this years new music to the pile ?

Re: Now Playing
Maybe not the best place to start with Fly-Lo (I'm a completely novice to his music), but I was looking for shorter-length albums and I'd heard good things about this guy, so I'm checking it out. How do his albums after compare?

This album is amazing. I forgot it for my albums list. Consider it #501.

Re: Now Playing
Okay, a little late is better than never.
This album won the 2014 Polaris Prize, which is Canada's equivalent of the Mercury, over some strong competition (including Reflektor). I have been avoiding it because Tagaq is generally headlined as an Inuit throat singer and throat singing (basically, rhythmic grunting) has always been something I enjoyed at best in small doses. But this album is beautifully orchestrated, with some great vocals (some in English, some in Inuktut). If you like Bjork...
This album is probably going to end up in my top ten for the year.
Edit: While I am of the firm opinion there is no such thing as NSFW music, the last two tracks may have your boss asking IT to check your web browsing history if he overhears what's coming from your cubicle. Use headphones.
