Françoise Hardy - Le temps de l'amour - 1962
Chanson.

Wikipédia:
Françoise Madeleine Hardy (French pronunciation: [fʁɑ̃swaz madlɛn aʁdi]; born 17 January 1944) is a French singer-songwriter. She made her musical debut in the early 1960s on Disques Vogue and found immediate success with her song "Tous les garçons et les filles". As a leading figure of the yé-yé movement, Hardy "found herself at the very forefront of the French music scene" and became "France's most exportable female singing star", recording in various languages, appearing in movies, touring throughout Europe, and gaining plaudits from musicians such as Bob Dylan, Miles Davis and Mick Jagger. With the aid of photographer Jean-Marie Périer, Hardy began modeling and soon became a popular fashion icon as well.

As the yé-yé era drew to a close in the late 1960s, Hardy sought to reinvent herself, casting off the fashionable, girl-next-door image that Périer had created for her and abandoning the "cute" and catchy compositions that had characterized her repertoire up to that point. She began working with more accomplished songwriters such as Serge Gainsbourg and Patrick Modiano. Her 1971 album La question represented an important turning point in her career, moving towards a more mature style; it remains her most acclaimed work and has generated a dedicated cult following over the years. The early 1970s also marked the beginning of Hardy's renowned involvement with astrology, becoming an expert and writer on the subject over the years.

Hardy remains a popular figure in music and fashion and is considered an icon of French pop and of the 1960s. The singer is also considered a gay icon and has "repeatedly declared that her most devoted friends and fans are gay". Several of her songs and albums have appeared in critics' lists.

Hardy was born and grew up in the 9th arrondissement of Paris with her younger sister Michèle. Her parents lived apart when she was young; her father contributed little financially to the family and had little to do with his daughters. He was, however, persuaded by the girls' mother to buy Françoise a guitar for her birthday as a reward for passing her baccalauréat.

Her early musical influences were the French chanson stars Charles Trenet and Cora Vaucaire [fr], as well as Anglophone singers Paul Anka, the Everly Brothers, Cliff Richard, Connie Francis, Elvis Presley, and Marty Wilde, whom she heard on the English-language radio station Radio Luxembourg.

After a year at the Sorbonne, she answered a newspaper advertisement looking for young singers. Hardy signed her first contract with the record label Vogue in November 1961. In April 1962, shortly after she left university, her first record, "Oh Oh Chéri", appeared, written by Johnny Hallyday's writing duo. Her own flip side of the record, "Tous les garçons et les filles", became a success, riding the wave of yé-yé music in France. It sold over a million copies and was awarded a gold record. The track peaked at No. 36 in the UK Singles Chart in 1964. She reportedly hated the song, saying that it was recorded "in three hours with the worst four musicians in Paris". She was dating photographer Jean-Marie Périer at this time, and his shots are featured on many of her record sleeves.

Hardy sings in French, English, Italian, German and has two interpretations in Spanish and one in Portuguese. Her recordings in Italian, completed in Paris in 1963 under the production of Ezio Leoni, remain to this day highly acclaimed. In 1963, she represented Monaco in the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing fifth with "L'amour s'en va". In 1963, she was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque from the Académie Charles Cros (see Grand Prix du Disque for French Song).

In 1994, she collaborated with the British pop group Blur for their "La Comedie" version of "To the End". In 1995, she sang on Malcolm McLaren's single "Revenge of the Flowers". The song appears on his concept album Paris. In May 2000, she made a comeback with the album Clair-obscur, on which her son played guitar and her husband sang the duet "Puisque vous partez en voyage". Iggy Pop and Étienne Daho also took part. She has also recorded a duet with Perry Blake, who wrote two songs for Tant de belles choses. For this album, Hardy won the trophy Female Artist of the Year at the Victoires de la musique ceremony in 2005.

In 2012, Hardy marked her 50-year career by releasing her 27th album, L'Amour fou; she also wrote and published a book of the same title.

On 5 March 2015, after two years of silence, a second book was published under the title Avis non-autorisé... ("Unauthorized opinion"). In this book, she reflects on old age, her interests and her annoyances.

Because of her difficult upbringing, Hardy became painfully shy – a trait which is still part of her character today. When asked about her shyness in an interview with John Andrew, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 2011, she said:

I thought at first my parents were divorced – at that time it was not a good thing, it was a kind of shame. My father didn't help much financially my mother, and all the other girls, little girls, were dressed differently than I was – their parents had more money...I didn’t enjoy at all everything, the trappings, when all of a sudden you become very famous... [on being taken up by the fashion houses] it was work, things I had to do, a chore – I didn't enjoy it at all...It is quite impossible to stand – to be admired too much – it is not a normal situation...I don't like that at all...I am not comfortable with my professional life really, so the word "icon" – it's as though you were talking about someone else, it's not me really... I feel happy when I'm on my bed, in my room with a good book.

After a serious illness in March 2015, she stated that she had no desire at all to write songs. She regained her health after two years and began returning to the recording studio in November 2017

It is the time of love,
the time of friends and adventure.
As the time comes and goes,
one thinks of nothing in spite of one's wounds.
Because the time of love
it's long and it's short,
it lasts forever, one remembers it.

At twenty, we tell ourselves that we rule the world,
and that all the blue sky will be in our eyes forever.

It is the time of love,
the time of friends and adventure.
As the time comes and goes,
We think of nothing in spite of our wounds.
For the time of love
it fills your heart
with so much warmth and happiness.

One fine day it's love and the heart beats faster,
for life follows its course
and one is totally happy to be in love.

It is the time of love,
the time of friends and adventure.
When the time comes and goes,
one thinks of nothing in spite of one's wounds.
For the time of love
it's long and it's short,
it lasts forever, one remembers it.

Re: France - One song per day.

Well, since we will soon reach the million views, I take advantage of this mail to thank the viewers in the shadows, hidden in the half-light and who click on the link without knowing what they are going to fall on: a classic yéyé, a self-tuning r'n'b abomination, an explicitly sexual darkwave song or anything else.

If I could make someone somewhere love a song, I'd be happy already. In any case, for me, it will have brought a lot of happiness to discover or rediscover forgotten music. :music-listening:

And an obvious link for my French camarades:

Tragédie - Hey Oh - 2003
Contemporary R&B, Pop Rap, French Hip Hop

Album: Tragédie (RYM: 0.73/5... yes... 0.73/5... it's the real notation, 0.73)

Wikipédia (DeepL translate)
Tragédie is a group of RnB and French hip-hop from Nantes, in Loire-Atlantique. The group became popular in 2003 with the single Hey oh. They split up in 2005 and reunited a decade later in 2015 with Az under the name Tragédie 2.0.

Tragédie is a trendy group formed in 1998 in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique by their producer, Nicolas Dumousseau. Together, the members practice street singing and appropriate the a cappella of the American RnB. It was a difficult period for them and this is what prompted them to name their group Tragédie. Spotted by the Nantes-based producer "General" Hannibal, they take their first steps in the studio in the 44th regiment project before working with DJ Dem's, Don Bamboo and DJ Tosca. There, they played a series of dates in Nantes nightclubs during DJ Dem's "Hot vibes" evenings, while working with the latter on what would become their first album. It was at one of these parties that they were spotted by Warner in Ancenis. They were touring at the time with a pre-version of the future single Hey oh, mixed by DJ Dem's on a sample of Mary J.Blige's Family Affair.

In 2003, the group released the hit single Hey oh, which sold between 500,000 and 700,000 copies and went platinum. This single, which reached number one in the French charts, enabled them to sign a contract with Up Music (a Warner label). Tragédie then signed the homonymous album Tragédie. In early 2004, they released the single Sexy pour moi. In October 2004, their second album À fleur 2 peau was released.

At the end of 2004, the band split up due to artistic differences and Tizy Bone released their first solo album under the pseudonym Y-Zit. His single Ola was released in 2006.

In May 2015, it was under the name Tragédie 2.0 that the two singers discussed their return to social networks by opening a Twitter and Facebook account.

On 5 June 2018, they release the single JTND (Jamais Tu N'aurais Dû).

On 19 July 2019, the group released a new single entitled Mr Love. In September, the band announces the release of a new album entitled QDL (Que du Love) now under the name TRG, released on December 20, 2019.

Ho ho ho ho ho
Ho ho ho ho

{Refrain:}
Est-ce que tu m'entends hey ho !
Est-ce que tu me sens hey ho !
Touche moi je suis là hey ho!
ho ho ho ho ho ho
S'il te plais réponds moi hey ho
Un geste suffira hey ho !
Est-ce que tu m'aperçois hey ho!
Ho ho ho ho ho ho
Ho yé ho ho ho ho ho

{au Refrain}

Ho ho ho ho

{au Refrain, x3}

Ho ho ho ho ho
Ho ho ho ho ho

{Refrain:}
Do you hear me hey ho!
Do you feel me hey ho!
Touch me, I'm here hey ho!
Answer me please
A gesture will suffice hey ho!
Do you see me hey ho!
I'm under your window for a long time
I call in vain but nobody answers
Make a just a sign to show that you are there

{au Refrain}

It passed two hours under your home
I yell your name but noboy hear me, just a sign will suffice
lift your head ho! Look who is there
I'm under your window for a long time
I call in vain but nobody answers
Make a just a sign to show that you are there
It passed two hours under your home

I yell your name but noboy hear me, just a sign will suffice
Lift your head ho! Look who is there

{au Refrain, x3}

La Femme - Où va le monde ? - 2016
Chanson, Synthpop, Pop, Indie Pop, Neo-Psychedelia, Alternative Dance

Album: Mystère (RYM: 3.61/5)

Artist Biography by Marcy Donelson (Allmusic)
Based in suburban Paris, the Krautrock-inspired indie collective La Femme incorporate elements of '60s surf, psych rock, EDM, and classic French pop into their avant indie electronic music. The group was formed in Biarritz, France by singer and keyboardist Marlon Magnée and guitarist Sacha Got. They released a self-titled EP in 2010 and followed it with Le Podium #1. A third EP, and their second self-titled effort, appeared in 2013 and marked their debut on the Disque Pointu label. With a roster of contributors, La Femme's debut long-player, Psycho Tropical Berlin, arrived in 2013 and made it onto the French albums chart. It later won a Victoire de la Musique, an award presented by the French Ministry of Culture, for Album Révélation of the Year. The follow-up, 2016's Mystère, was recorded partly in Los Angeles and partly in a castle west of Paris, and featured additional members Clémence Quélennec (vocals), Sam Lefèvre (bass), and Noé Delmas (drums) from the debut, as well as keyboardist/percussion Lucas Nunez Ritter.

Pourquoi je me méfie ?
Pourquoi ça me fait si peur ?

So where is the world going ?
Why do I sometimes ask myself if girls and boys are really so cruel ?
Where are my real friends ?
Why don't I trust myself ?
What could anyone have really done about all those sacrifices ?
Yes, nobody's trustworthy, but life should still be nice
And it doesn't really matter if people are still so cruel to those they love
They have to forgive each other, of course, swallow their pride
Why does everyone lie to and cheat on each other to the point of dragging each other into total misery ?
Giving someone my trust and my love,
Why does that terrify me so much ?
Is this really normal ?
No, it's not normal.

And I
Don't want to be a fool anymore
I don't want to waste my life on dramas
That always end in tears or nightmares
I don't want to feel like garbage anymore

I don't have any more respect for myself
I don't have any more respect for you
Too bad it's like that
Too bad it's like that
I'm off on my way
You're already very very far away
A long way behind me
A long way behind me
Yes, that drama was good
For silencing my shocked expression once and for all
I'm leaving like I came, even more disappointed
And the worst part about that is that I'm still a stranger to you
Out of pity, stop sinking daggers into my back
Or else my body will become a filet of scars which won't have anything inside it except your cruelty
I can't deal with it any more
I want to run very, very far away
I'm crying and sniffling
This is the final tear that makes my eyes overflow and has left me depressed.
So where is the world going ?

So where is the world going ?
Why is it that whenever I want to do something good, everything goes all wrong ?
Why do people lie to each other ?
Why do people cheat each other ?
Do you also ask yourself why life is so complicated ?
Especially when two people love each other and look good together, it all looks so easy
So how is it then that every time it ends in tears ?
I can't deal with dramas anymore
I can't deal with all these torturers anymore
And all these victims
People contradict themselves all day long
They don't know what they want, and that's why they hurt each other
Is this really normal ?
There are some questions that I know I'll never find the answers to
There are some things nobody can do anything about
Of course we have to laugh them off and keep walking

But I
Won't be a fool anymore
I don't want to waste my life on dramas anymore
Which always end in hysterics or nightmares
I don't want to feel like garbage anymore

Jean-François Coen - La tour de Pise - 1993
Chanson, Nouvelle chanson française

Album: Jean-François Coen (RYM: 3.65/5)

Wikipédia (DeepL translate)
Jean-François Coen (16 November 1959 in Oran) is a French musician, singer-songwriter and producer .

He arrived in Paris in 1965, where he studied classical guitar with Ramon de Herrera.

From 1978 to 1981, he was a bassist and composer in the group Modern Guy, which recorded an album produced by John Cale in 1979.

His first album, La Tour de Pise, was released in 1993 by Columbia (Sony Music). The video clip for the first eponymous single is directed by Michel Gondry.

The second album, entitled Vive l'Amour, was released in 2004 by Naïve Records.

On fera des voyages
Mon amour si tu es sage
Je suis ton Roméo
Et tu es ma Juliette
Dans les films les héros
Ne sont jamais très nets

Tu n'étais qu'une touriste
Au pied de la tour de Londres
Au bord de la Tamise
Tu n'étais qu'une touriste
Au pied de la tour de Pise
Attendant qu'elle s'effondre

Pour corser mon gin-fizz
Tu as rajouté un zeste
De larme dans le shaker
Tu y as perdu ta chemise

We'll do travels
My love if you're good
I'm your Romeo
And you're my Juliette
In the movies the heros
Are never very above-board

You were only a tourist
At the foot of London's tower
By the Tamise
You were only a tourist
At the foot of the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Waiting for it to collapse

To spice up my gin-fizz
You added a zest
Of tears in the shaker
You lost your shirt in it
And I, I took a jacket
In your heart's closet

I was your Romeo
You werre my Juliette
In the movies the heros
Were looking very honest
That's love
We say that it's always flowing

Twenty-four very blurry images of crazy love per second

César-Auguste-Jean-Guillaume-Hubert Franck (10 December 1822 – 8 November 1890) was a composer, pianist, organist, and music teacher who worked in Paris during his adult life.

He was born at Liège, in what is now Belgium (though at the time of his birth it was part of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands). He gave his first concerts there in 1834 and studied privately in Paris from 1835, where his teachers included Anton Reicha. After a brief return to Belgium, and a disastrous reception for an early oratorio Ruth, he moved to Paris, where he married and embarked on a career as teacher and organist. He gained a reputation as a formidable musical improviser, and travelled widely within France to demonstrate new instruments built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll.

In 1858, he became organist at the Basilica of St. Clotilde, Paris, a position he retained for the rest of his life. He became professor at the Paris Conservatoire in 1872; he took French nationality, a requirement of the appointment. His pupils included Vincent d'Indy, Ernest Chausson, Louis Vierne, Charles Tournemire, Guillaume Lekeu and Henri Duparc. After acquiring the professorship, Franck wrote several pieces that have entered the standard classical repertoire, including symphonic, chamber, and keyboard works.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A9sar_Franck

Music:

Many of Franck's works employ "cyclic form", a method aspiring to achieve unity across multiple movements. This may be achieved by reminiscence, or recall, of an earlier thematic material into a later movement, or as in Franck's output where all of the principal themes of the work are generated from a germinal motif. The main melodic subjects, thus interrelated, are then recapitulated in the final movement. Franck's use of "cyclic form" is best illustrated by his Symphony in D minor (1888).

His music is often contrapuntally complex, using a harmonic language that is prototypically late Romantic, showing a great deal of influence from Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner. In his compositions, Franck showed a talent and a penchant for frequent, graceful modulations of key. Often these modulatory sequences, achieved through a pivot chord or through inflection of a melodic phrase, arrive at harmonically remote keys. Indeed, Franck's students report that his most frequent admonition was to always "modulate, modulate." Franck's modulatory style and his idiomatic method of inflecting melodic phrases are among his most recognizable traits.

Franck had huge hands, capable of spanning twelve white keys on the keyboard. This allowed him unusual flexibility in voice-leading between internal parts in fugal composition, and in the size of the repeated chords which are a feature of much of his keyboard music. Of the Violin Sonata's writing it has been said: "Franck, blissfully apt to forget that not every musician's hands were as enormous as his own, littered the piano part (the last movement in particular) with major-tenth chords... most mere pianistic mortals ever since have been obligated to spread them in order to play them at all."

The key to his music may be found in his personality. His friends record that he was "a man of utmost humility, simplicity, reverence and industry." Louis Vierne, a pupil and later organist titulaire of Notre-Dame, wrote in his memoirs that Franck showed a "constant concern for the dignity of his art, for the nobility of his mission, and for the fervent sincerity of his sermon in sound... Joyous or melancholy, solemn or mystic, powerful or ethereal: Franck was all those at Sainte-Clotilde."

Legacy:
Unusually for a composer of such importance and reputation, Franck's fame rests largely on a small number of compositions written in his later years, particularly his Symphony in D minor (1886–88), the Symphonic Variations for piano and orchestra (1885), the Prelude, Chorale and Fugue for piano solo (1884), the Sonata for Violin and Piano in A major (1886), the Piano Quintet in F minor (1879), and the symphonic poem Le Chasseur maudit (1883). The Symphony was especially admired and influential among the younger generation of French composers and was highly responsible for reinvigorating the French symphonic tradition after years of decline. One of his best known shorter works is the motet setting Panis angelicus, which was originally written for tenor solo with organ and string accompaniment, but has also been arranged for other voices and instrumental combinations.

As an organist he was particularly noted for his skill in improvisation, and on the basis of a mere twelve major organ works, Franck is considered by many the greatest composer of organ music after Bach. His works were some of the finest organ pieces to come from France in over a century, and laid the groundwork for the French symphonic organ style. In particular, his early Grande Pièce Symphonique, a twenty-five-minute work, paved the way for the organ symphonies of Charles-Marie Widor, Louis Vierne, and Marcel Dupré, and his late Trois Chorals are a cornerstone of the organ repertoire, featuring regularly on concert programs.

Franck exerted a significant influence on music. He helped to renew and reinvigorate chamber music and developed the use of cyclic form. Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel remembered and employed the cyclic form, although their concepts of music were no longer the same as Franck's. Relating Franck as organist and composer to his place in French music, Smith states that "the concept of César Franck as organist and undisputed master of nineteenth-century French organ composition pervades nearly every reference to his works in other media."

A live:

The Symphonic Variations (Variations symphoniques), M. 46, is a work for piano and orchestra written in 1885 by César Franck. It has been described as "one of Franck's tightest and most finished works", "a superb blending of piano and orchestra", and "a flawless work and as near perfection as a human composer can hope to get in a work of this nature". It is a fine example of Franck's use of cyclic unity, with one theme growing into various others. The piano and orchestra share equally in the continuous evolution of ideas. The work is in F♯ minor (with the last movement in F♯ major). Duration in performance is about fifteen minutes, and the instrumentation is piano solo and orchestra: pairs of flutes, oboes, clarinets, and bassoons; four horns; two trumpets; timpani; and strings.

The work was dedicated to Louis Diémer, who on 15 March 1885 had premiered Les Djinns, a symphonic poem for piano and orchestra that brought Franck one of his rare critical successes. He promised to reward Diémer with "a little something", and the similarly scored Symphonic Variations was the result. Franck started work in the summer of 1885, and completed the piece on 12 December.

While there is no doubt that it demonstrates Franck's mastery of variation form, the overall structure of the Symphonic Variations has been a matter of debate. Donald Tovey called it "a finely and freely organized fantasy, with an important episode in variation form". It has three broad parts, played without a break: introduction, theme and variations, and finale. These parts resemble the fast–slow–fast layout of a three-movement concerto. While the whole piece is thematically unified, the proper variations occupy only the central third of the work. The introduction has reminded many commentators of the theme of the slow movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G.

The entire work is based on two themes. The first part begins in the home key of F♯ minor with different elements of the themes played by the orchestra and the piano (Poco allegro). Soon both themes get a proper statement, the first (ascending) in A major by the orchestra (L'istesso tempo), the second (descending) in C♯ minor by the piano (Poco più lento). A transitional section with orchestra and piano interplay (Allegro — Allegretto quasi andante) lead to the second part of the work.

It is this second part that contains the variations. The main theme (the ascending one) is announced by the piano. It is in F♯ minor. The variations follow. Their number is debated, ranging from six to fifteen, depending on how one counts: brief variations having similar character can be analyzed as just sections of longer and more complex variations.

The last variation is marked Molto più lento. It changes the mode from minor to major (F♯ major). After this, the music returns to minor for a new transitional episode, in which the descending theme reappears played by the strings con sordini with a mysterious piano arpeggio accompaniment. It is quite long (about 2 minutes) and ends with a piano trill announcing the final part.

The work ends with a brilliant final in the parallel F♯ major (Allegro non troppo). It is a compact sonata-form movement, complete with first (the descending theme) and second (the ascending theme) subjects, development, and recapitulation. The second subject appears at first in D major and returns in F♯ major.

Les Sultans - Va t'en - 1966
Quebec, pop rock

Album: Les Sultans (RYM: 3.26/5)

Wikipédia:
The origins of the band go back to 1962 when guitarist Claude Reid, a young musician greatly affected by British sounds established as an adolescent les Dots, an instrumental combo with Marcel Richard and shortly later André Dion and Gilles Henry and drummer Michel Dufault. In 1963, a vocalist Bruce Huard joined the formation giving it a great boost.

With increasing success, the band adopted more British sounds and changed its name to Les Sultans and in 1964 was signed to Fontaine record label as a new Quebec band to ride the Beatlemania bandwagon. Les Sultans original formation was vocalist Bruce Huard, guitar player Claude Reid and drummer Michel Dufault all from Les Dots days, in addition to Denis Forcier on guitars and Ghislain Dufault on bass.

Early 1964, the band became known for "Toujours devant moi" a remake of Beatles' "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Oh Lady" already made popular by Chats Sauvages and Spanish covers for "Cielito Lindo" and "La Bamba". In autumn 1964, les Sultans were chosen to succeed the Hou-Lops, another Maskoutain group from the late 1950s, in the popular youth programme Bonsoir Copains on CHLT-TV in Sherbrooke. Managed by Jean-Guy Labelle and later Gerry Plamondon and lyricist Gilles Brown, Les Sultans became popular with songs like "Vivre sa vie" and "On est trop jeune" which made the group the youth generation spokesmen for Quebecers. The ballad "Va-t-en", composed by the group with its acoustic guitar and harmonies and elaborate vocals became a huge success. The follow-ups were French language covers of The Zombies hits in "Je t’aime bien" and "Dis-lui", with increasing charismatic popularity of Bruce Huard.

The band moved to a bigger label Télédisc, with Denis Pantis producing "Tu es impossible", a French version of Them's "I Can Only Give You Everything". Then came the band's biggest hit with a cover of Michel Polnareff's "La poupée qui fait non" considered the definitive song for Les Sultans. Other hits included "C'est promis", "Pardonne-moi", "Tout le monde me dit qu'elle est belle" and "Angélique". Their 1966 self-titled album Les Sultans broke all records of sale in Quebec, as they were chosen the Best Group of the Year during Festival du disque particularly with the launch of "L'amour s'en va", composed by band members Bruce Huard and Denis Forcier and the follow-up "Pour qui pourquoi".

In 1967, the repertoire of Les Sultans diversified with success of "À toi que je pense" and a series of English language songs composed by the duo Huard and Forcier like "To Say You're Sorry", "Bring Her Back" and "Looking Through You" to try to expand the fame of the band in the rest of Canada and internationally but with lesser success. These were included in a 1967 album Express. The band made a last tour in 1967 and early 1968 and a final album on Maison D.S.P. titled En personne - Les Sultans à Starovan - Leur spectacle d'adieu and a final single "En fermant la porte".

Ne fusse qu'un soir
Ne fusse qu'un instant
Je ne puis plus te voir
Va t'en va t'en
Je dois partir tu sais
Vers un pays lointain
À quand je pleurerai
Va t'en j'ai du chagrin
Un jour oh oui un jour
Nous unirons nos pas
A la fin du séjour
Crois-moi crois-moi
Oh un jour oh oui un jour
Nous unirons nos pas
A la fin du séjour
Crois-moi crois-moi
Même si je suis très loin
Je serai avec toi
Mon cœur suit le chemin
Et tu guides ses pas
Ne fusse qu'un soir
Ne fusse qu'un instant
Je ne puis plus te voir
Va t'en va t'en
Va t'en va t'en en
Oh va t'en
oh va t'en
Oh va t'en

Bikini Machine - Où vont les cons ? - 2009
Indietronica, Garage Rock Revival, Electronic Dance Music, Freakbeat, Mod Revival

Album: The full album

Wikipédia:
2001: while the band has almost no concerts to its credit and the project is still in development, it is programmed at the Transmusicales. The reactions they received reinforced their desire to persevere. Indeed, it is following this performance that the Transmusicales team, seeing the band's potential, decided to give them a helping hand. Among other things, a series of concerts in Reunion Island as part of a cultural exchange between the island and the festival and a new programme for the 2002 edition will follow.
2003 : the Transmusicales bringing them decidedly luck, they are programmed for the 2003 edition of the Vieilles Charrues in Carhaix, when there is not even talk of an album yet. It is thus without an album to defend that they will perform at the festival. The band having been approached by the label Platinum records at the end of the first half of 2003, the first record An introduction to Bikini Machine recorded and mixed by them will be released in September 2003.
Having never missed the opportunity to establish their reputation as a live band, they have played no less than sixty dates in France and abroad (Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Ukraine) following the release of the album. This same album is released in Japan, Ukraine and Spain.
2004-2005: due to health problems of one of their members, the band finds itself forced to take a forced rest between the end of 2004 and the beginning of 2005. Far from being inactive, the other members record eight songs in homage to Jacques Dutronc. They take back the stage in June 2005 during the edition of the Transmusicales of Beijing in China and release the mini album Bikini Machine joue Dutronc in November 2005.
2006: they pass into the hands of Ian Caple (Tricky, Tindersticks, Bashung) for the album Daily music cooking with three tracks in French, they combine the sixties garage soul energy with the yé-yé spirit of Dutronc. They then went on to play about sixty dates and festivals such as the Eurockéennes, the Francofolies, two tours in Germany to support the release of their record on the Lounge label (which managed to place them on a BMW ad) and two tours also in Russia with a local release on Soyuz.
2009: the album The Full Album is released in autumn 2009, the members of Bikini Machine have decided to work with different producers including Jon Spencer on tracks that oscillate between 1960s rock, yé-yé pop and electro.

Eddie Warner - Come - 1975
Library Music, Light Music, Vocal Jazz, Electronic

Album: Music for Loving / Music for Laughing

discogs
As a german jew, he had to leave Germany when Hitler came to power. He continued studying piano and trumpet at the Strasbourg Conservatory in eastern France. The situation worsened and he had to flee further west, to Paris, where he was a refugee. He enlisted in the French Foreign Legion until the end of the war, where he became a bugler. After the war he played the piano in Paris nightclubs. He created his orchestra of tropical music, composed of 17 musicians paid on an annual basis. That’s when he first met Lalo Schifrin, then a refugee touring with a South American band. Eddie hired Lalo as a musician and arranger for his orchestra, while helping him to obtain his papers...

Bazbaz - Sur le bout de la langue - 2004
Pop Reggae, Pop, Chanson

Camille Bazbaz (born 1967) is a French author-composer-interpreter. He was born in Suresnes.

French pop-reggae-soul artist Camille Bazbaz's career began during his college years as a member of the politically charged, rebellious punk rock group Cri de la Mouche (Cry of the Fly). Bazbaz stayed with the group throughout the 1980s, serving as the group's organist. Influenced by the punk and rock sounds of the '70s, Cri de la Mouche stayed active until their split in 1990.

Bazbaz took the opportunity to explore new stylistic directions. These included reggae, soul, and the blues, but most importantly hip-hop. Bazbaz dove headfirst into the rap and hip-hop idioms in the early 1990s, collaborating with French hip-hop musicians like Joey Starr, who ultimately appeared on his debut record, Dubadelik, released in 1996. Colored with gentle reggae inflections and characterized by Bazbaz's typically humorous and seductive lyrics, the record was well received by the emerging French urban music community. Dubadelik earned Bazbaz a reputation as an underground up-and-comer, opening doors into other creative circles.

Filmmaker Pierre Savadori commissioned Bazbaz to compose the soundtracks for four of his films, Comme Elle Respire (1997), Les Marchands de Sable (2000), Apres Vous (2003), and Hors de Prix (2006). As he gained recognition as a film composer, Bazbaz's solo discography continued to grow with the releases of Une Envie de Chien (2000) and Sur le Bout de la Langue (2004).

A pilgrimage to Kingston, Jamaica, produced the artist's fourth solo record, Le bonheur fantôme. Recorded with a mixture of local musicians and Bazbaz's regular collaborators, the album became the artist's most West Indies-centric project to date. The album's release in May 2007 was followed by a busy touring schedule that would take Bazbaz and his bandmates to every corner of the French world music circuit.

I have, on the tip of my tongue
A word burning me
A word confusing me
The head is tearing apart my bones
It's scratching my brain
It's damaging me from head to toe
I have, on the tip of my tongue, your little heart swaying
On the tip of my tongue, your little heart swaying
Your little heart swaying, your little heart swaying

There is under your skin
Some kind of shiver touching me
A thunderbolt on your mouth
Lay me beside you
No, I won't move
Even if you don't listen to me
I have, on the tip of my tongue, your little heart swaying
On the tip of my tongue, your little heart swaying
Your little heart swaying, your little heart swaying

Don't point at me
If I want your hands first
If I ask you once more
To tell me the story
Of people who love each other for a night
Of people who love each other for life
I have, on the tip of my tongue, your little heart swaying
On the tip of my tongue, your little heart swaying
Your little heart swaying, your little heart swaying
Your little heart swaying, your little heart swaying
Your little heart swaying, your little heart swaying

Louis Chédid - Anne, ma sœur Anne - 1985
Chanson

Wikipédia:
Louis Chedid is the son of the writer Andrée Chedid and the father of Matthieu Chedid (better known as -M-).

As a child he made his first footsteps into the singing world as a member of the "Manécanterie des Petits Chanteurs à la Croix de Bois", a famous French catholic boys choir.

Chedid was a fan of the jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt and decided that he would set forth into a career in the world of music as soon as he left school. After his first album "Balbutiements" (Mumblings – 1973) attracted little attention, his talent was first recognised after the release of titles like "La Belle" and "T'as beau pas être beau" released in 1977.

In 1981, "Ainsi soit-il" (Amen) rose to the top of the charts, followed four years later by "Anne ma sœur Anne" (My sister Anne) which criticised the increasing popularity of the extreme-right in France. His first, autobiographical novel – 40 Berges Blues – was published in 1992.

Chedid is also the composer of Pierre-Dominique Burgaud's "Le Soldat Rose" (The Pink Soldier, 2006), a fairytale musical whose songs have been interpreted by singers including -M-, Vanessa Paradis, Jeanne Cherhal, Francis Cabrel, Alain Souchon and Bénabar.

Song:
Anne, my sister Anne is a song by Louis Chedid released in the album of the same name in 1985 and as a single the same year. It is one of the artist's best-known songs. Alert to the return of extremes in French society, Anne, ma sœur Anne has been part of an artistic anti-racism movement since the 1980s. Similarly, it is one of the usual themes in Louis Chedid's work.

The song has been the subject of various covers and a video clip was made in 1994.

J’aurais tant voulu te dire, p’tite fille martyre :

Sale cafard!

Anne, sister Anne,
you wouldn't believe what I see coming.
Anne, sister Anne,
I can't believe my eyes, it's a nightmare.
What a downer!

Anne, sister Anne
while you were hiding in your closet, writing your diary,
Anne, sister Anne,
you thought we would never forget, but...
Memory lapse!

It's crawling again out of its den, the Nazi-nostalgia:
Swastika, nailed boots, the whole lot.
It is becoming respectable, with followers, a party...
It is back, the historical hysteria!

Anne, sister Anne,
you wouldn't believe what I'm hearing.
Anne, sister Anne,
the same speeches, the same slogans,
the same barking!

Anne, sister Anne,
martyred little girl, I wish I could have told you,
"Anne, sister Anne,
sleep tight, it won't be back,
the vermin!"

But there was much indifference, ill-advised patience
for these ancient damned, smelling of deja vu.
Far too much leniency, too much good manners
for this Nazi-nostalgia that crawls again out of its den... like yesterday!

Anne, sister Anne,
you wouldn't believe what I see coming.
Anne, sister Anne,
I can't believe my eyes, it's a nightmare.
What a downer!

Mc Solaar - Nouveau Western - 1994
Hip Hop, Jazz Rap, Boom Bap, Conscious Hip Hop

Album: Prose Combat (RYM: 3.72/5)

Wikipédia:
Claude M'Barali, professionally known as MC Solaar (French pronunciation: [ɛm si sɔˈlaʁ]) (born 5 March 1969), is a French rapper. He is one of France's most famous and influential hip hop artists. Some even consider him as the best French rapper of all time.

MC Solaar is known for his complex lyrics and distinctive flows, which rely on word play, lyricism, and inquiry. In the English-speaking world, Solaar was signed by London-based acid jazz record label Talkin' Loud and recorded with British group Urban Species and the late rapper Guru, who was a member of the critically acclaimed New York-based rap group Gang Starr. Solaar has since released eight studio albums and one live album. The 8th studio album, Géopoétique, produced by Alain Etchart and mixed by sound engineer David Gnozzi, won best album of the year at the Victoires de la Musique awards in 2018.

Early life
Claude M'Barali was born in Dakar, Senegal, to parents from Chad. When he was six months old, his parents emigrated to France where they settled in the Parisian suburbs; initially in Saint-Denis, subsequently Maisons-Alfort and finally Villeneuve-Saint-Georges. When he was twelve, he went to live with an uncle in Cairo, Egypt for nine months where he discovered the Zulu Nation and became fascinated with the rapping styles of Afrika Bambaataa. Upon his return to France, he passed the baccalauréat. It has been said that his constant support from his mother was one of the reasons that he was able to pass the baccalauréat and still make music. He coined the stage name "MC Solaar" during his adolescence from his graffiti tags "SOAR" and "SOLAAR".

MC Solaar describes his early influences before a London gig in 2011, to radio producer Pete Shevlin.
He studied languages at the Jussieu university campus and was a postgraduate in Philosophy. He released his first single in 1990. MC Solaar went to Paris in the summer of 1991 with his friend Jimmy Jay in hopes of succeeding in the music industry. Success came quickly when his first single, Bouge de là ("Get Out of There"), based on a sample from Cymande's song The Message (1973) became a hit in the early 1990s. Many rappers who came out of Africa at the time spoke a lot about slavery and other topics in order to bring the history of their people into light. Nevertheless, the song went platinum in France and reached #5 on the national charts.

1991–1997: Early success and Prose Combat breakthrough
After the success of Bouge de là, Solaar went on to support the famous American rap group De La Soul when they performed at the Olympia in Paris in September 1991. At the close of 1991, Solaar released Qui Sème le Vent Récolte le Tempo which went on to sell over 400,000 copies in France. With the success of his debut album in France, Solaar embarked upon extensive tours of Poland and Russia. In December 1992, he performed in twelve countries across West Africa, where his French rap style proved extremely popular with African music fans.

MC Solaar released Prose Combat in 1994. It sold 100,000 copies in the first week of being released and became a bestseller in 20 other countries. In February 1995 he received an award for Best Male Singer of the Year at the 10th edition of the French "Victoires de la Musique" awards. Also in 1994, MC Solaar appeared on the Red Hot Organization's compilation album, Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool. The album, meant to raise awareness and funds in support of the AIDS epidemic in relation to the African American community, was heralded as Album of the Year by Time.

Solaar returned to the studio in 1997 with longtime friend and producer Jimmy Jay to record his third album, Paradisiaque. The album was another success, which led to an extensive European tour starting on 9 January 1998 at the Zénith in Paris. His talents led to international interest from places such as Germany, Japan and the United States not long after. He was included as a guest on American rapper Guru's "Jazzmatazz" project and one of Solaar's songs was included in the Tommy Boy rap compilation in the United States.

Early in Solaar's career, it was important for him to share the struggles and the different hardships for black people that had emigrated to France and tried to make a better life. Most of his music was dedicated to enlightening the population of a specific deeper message that connected to him in his life. "[...] he addresses the conditions under which Black people have emigrated to and settled in France. In the piece "Leve-toi et rap," he describes his Chadian parents' migration from Senegal to a Parisian suburb, the main stages of his teenage years and how he finally came to discover rap." In an interview, MC Solaar described the feeling of making a song and the thought process while just writing any part of lyrics that go into his music. "I write quickly, because of the music, he tells me. It's much easier if you have the music, the rhythm, but I am fast. First, I have taken in "everything". Do you never write before the music? Ah. I used to, he admits. But when I met the music, I changed."

1997–2004: Cinquième As and Mach 6
Solaar's career continued to evolve throughout the late 1990s and into the new millennium. He released Cinquième As in 2001, to critical acclaim and Mach 6 in 2003. In the album's third track, "Lève-Toi et Rap", Solaar describes his parents' move to France as well as his own roots growing up in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges and Cairo. Towards the beginning of the song he says: Puis trip en Egypte, Ecole Française du Caire/ Pour parfaire mon flow et mon vocabulaire/ Là j'ai appris l'humilité, la peur des cartouches/ Pur style de sniper camouflage paw-mouche, which translated, means he spent time at a French school in Cairo, perfecting his rapping style and learning how to survive a dangerous lifestyle. Critic Dan Gennoe attests to Solaar's "flow et vocabulaire" by noting "the flow of his words is staggering, as are the low-slung grooves that they roll to; deftly vaulting all language barriers."

"Cinquième As" includes lyrics in French, English, and Spanish, which represents his ideals that rap should be inclusive of all people. In early 2004, his 2001 song "La Belle et Le Bad Boy" was featured on the final episode of the popular U.S. television series Sex and the City. The MTV series "The Hills" featured the song as well.

2005–Present: Chapitre 7 and international acclaim
"Da Vinci Claude", the first single from Solaar's album Chapitre 7, was launched in March 2007. The album was released on 18 June 2007. MC Solaar is best known outside France for his work on Guru's Jazzmatazz project and as a featured artist on the Missy Elliott track "All N My Grill". His collaboration with her propelled him to higher popularity in the U.S market. The single "Le Bien, Le Mal" (The Good, The Bad) has been a hip hop/dance crossover hit and has received playtime on MTV, which characterizes his work this way: "His fluid phrasing makes up for his lack of English, and the production on his solo work (by DJ Jimmy Jay and Boom Bass of La Funk Mob) surpasses that of most of his hip-hop contemporaries."

Album:
Prose Combat is the second studio album by French rapper MC Solaar, released in 1994 by Cohiba Records. Its success propelled him to international fame.

Colt, Derringer, Winchester & Remington
Oncle Sam me dupe

The wind blows in Arizona
A State in which Harry wandered.
Cow-boy, crazy of the bang-bang of a gun,
Of weapons, horses, and what's needed for a binge.
Chased by Smith & Wesson,
Colt, Derringer, Winchester & Remington,
He roams the plains, proud, lonely,
His horse is his partner.
Sometimes, he meets Indians
But the gold rush is his sole goal.
His life follows a course that we all know by heart:
Otto Premiger's River of No Return.
While John Wayne is clothed like Lucky Luke,
Clean like an archduke, Uncle Sam deceives me.
Hollywood fools us. Hollywood fools!…
In the everyday life like in
The New Westerns

We say "beware of the gorilla", but beware of Gary Cooper.
The modern western has settled down in the place.
When the city sleeps trains don't whistle.
The Magnificent Seven don't get an ounce of a fight.
Harry is now close to East Station,
He skips ages and places for a new Far-West.
Saloons here are bars, where they sell you smokes,
Not the chew type, the good type, some CinemaScope.
He enters the bar, orders an Indian,
Scalps the foam, drinks, puts down the glass on the zinc.
A Two-Horses parks, and drunk guys are punching
About futile issues like in
The New Westerns.

The States are some kind of multinational company
exporting the western and its feudal world
dictating right and wrong; Lucky Luke and the Daltons
Are cloaked in Paul Smith and Weston
Some say only the scenery matters,
The clothes do not make the man in the gold rush.
Therefore techniques are perfected;
The smart-card replaces the Remington.
But Harry in Paris got unlucky,
He and his diligence are stopped on the beltway
Then he's put in Fresnes Prison, so that it hinders him;
victim of the directives of what we call
The New Western.

Sometimes life is like a stray bullet:
In the modern system the individual is drowning
To stay clear-handed they drink plenty Brandy
From now on we brandish TV, hashish, and baby.
White is the Stagecoach
Always in backlight, it's far less heroic.
In the dream world we get a happy ending
Is it also the case in what we call
The New Western?

Like all the raps and Hip-hop lyrics, it's impossible to really translate correctly.

Jehan Jonas - Nocturnes - 1969
Chanson.

Album: Tahiti

Wikipédia (DeepL translate)
Jehan Jonas, whose real name was Gérard Beziat, born on 12 August 1944 in the 17th arrondissement of Paris and died on 29 April 1980 in the 13th arrondissement, was a French singer-songwriter from the 1960s and 1970s.

A forgotten singer, his pamphleteer songs and libertarian ideas are best known; he is also the author of radio stories, plays and texts for other artists. Under his real name, that of Jehan Jonas or that of Henri de Canterneuil, he published erotic novels and wrote scripts for pornographic films.

Vous verrez des seins
Dans des robes de soie
Des goûts de parfums
Couchés sur des pas
Des ventres câlins
Que là où le bas
Quand passe la main
Ou le bout des doigts
Ne vous arrêtez pas
Continuez tout droit

Vous verrez des reins
Qui gonflent des draps
Rugueux et chagrins
Comme vous et moi
Des yeux enfantins
Presque maladroits
Des cœurs cristallins
Qui battent aux éclats
Ne vous arrêtez pas
Continuez tout droit

Vous verrez des corps
Félins et sauvages
Un serpent qui dort
Au creux d'un corsage
Alangui encore
D'un dernier outrage
Avant une mort
Puissante et volage
Ne vous arrêtez pas
Continuez tout droit

Vous verrez des seins
Sous des doigts d'enfant
Sous la bouche d'un
Vague adolescent
Frémir et gonfler
Presque avoir une âme
Et puis sommeiller
Sur un corps de femme
Là, arrêtez-vous
Et attendez-vous

You will see breasts
In silk dresses
Tastes of perfumes
Lying on steps
Bellies that cuddle
When you run your hand through
Or your fingertips
Down there
Do not stop
Go straight ahead

You will see lower backs
That inflate the sheets
Rough and full of sorrow
Like you and I
Childish eyes
Clumsy, almost
Crystal eyes
That are beating out loud
Do not stop
Go straight ahead

You will see bodies
Feline and wild
A snake that sleeps
Inside a blouse
Still languid
From a last outrage
Before a powerful
And fickle death
Do not stop
Go straight ahead

You will see breasts
Under the fingers of a child
Under the mouth of a
Teenage wave
Quiver and swell
Almost have a soul
And then fall asleep
On the body of a woman
Stop right there
And wait

Nita Berger - Tchiou Tchiou - 1945
Chanson.

Refrain:}
Tchiou tchiou tchiou tchiou
Tchiou tchiou tchiou tcho
Tchiou tchiou tchiou tchiou
Tchiou tchiou tchiou tcho

Passe alentour
Vite il l'appelle
Avec ce cri d'amour
Alors la belle
Fait demi-tour
Bientôt c'est elle
Qui le crie à son tour

Pour votre idole
Allons, messieurs,
Au lieu d' paroles
Poussez ce cri joyeux
Dès qu'il s'envole
Tout va bien mieux
Et si ça colle
Eh bien, répétez-le !

Tchiou tchiou tchiou tchiou

Castelhemis - La guerre des regards -1984
Chanson, pop

Album: Coucou

Wikipédia

Castelhemis, whose real name was Philippe Laboudigue, born in Neuilly-sur-Seine on 11 July 1948 and died on 8 April 20131 , was a French singer of the 1970s and 1980s.

Castelhemis began his career at the end of the 1960s in a medieval performance company where he learned the rudiments of the trade. Two EP singles were released from this period in 1969, as a duo with a friend (they signed Castel and Vendôme).

His solo career began ten years later. He writes music and lyrics himself, in a style close to folk or pop music. Without any media coverage, he is a great success with a young public who appreciate his anti-militaristic or anti-nuclear songs. More than 50,000 copies of his records have been sold. He voluntarily stopped his career after his last album in 1988, tired of a system he did not want to get bogged down in.
T'as remarqué se déclenche aussitôt

Sliimy - Wake Up - 2009
Pop

Album: Paint Your Face (RYM: 2.24/5)

Wikipédia:
Yanis Sahraoui[1] better known by his stage name Sliimy, pronounced the French way, to rhyme with "Jimmy", (born 16 September 1988) is a French pop musician who in 2009 released the album Paint Your Face, which reached number 2 in the French charts.

In spring 2015, he returned under his real name Yanis with his new single Hypnotized.

Yanis Sahraoui was born on 16 September 1988 in Saint-Étienne. He grew up in the neighborhood of Vivaraize, along with his three sisters and his brother. He studied at high school and then went to the university of Notre-Dame Valbernoîte. "I participated in choir at school. Otherwise, I would sing by myself! In 2005, I won a contest and then suddenly I recorded my first song. What’s funny is that I put the video on my blog, but people wouldn’t believe it was me." In 2005, he won a singing contest at Pax in Saint-Etienne, and won a record in a studio where he met Etienne Feed, now his partner and guitarist.

Discovered on MySpace by blogger Perez Hilton due to his cover of the song Womanizer by Britney Spears at the end of December 2008, Sliimy had some success in the Internet community (YouTube, Dailymotion, etc.). His cover of the singer created a huge buzz, until reaching the ears of the star. Britney Spears, who adored Sliimy, immediately offered him the first part of her tour The Circus Starring Britney Spears during her concerts in Paris-Bercy in France in July 2009.

In February 2009, he was part of the coming-nexts du Grand Journal in Canal+. His first single was titled Wake Up and is available on legal download platforms.

His first album, Paint Your Face, was recorded in Saint-Étienne in January 2009. It was mixed at Trout Recording Studio in New York in March by Bryce Goggin, who has worked with Antony and the Johnsons and Pavement. The album was released on 6 April 2009 by Warner Music.

In addition to having been the first part of Britney Spears's tour, Sliimy also went on tour with singer Katy Perry for the Hello Katy Tour in Switzerland and England in 2009. A few months later, the artist made a surprising appearance in the music video for the hit song I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas in the album The END.

Four singles were taken from Paint Your Face between 2009 and 2010: Wake Up, Trust Me, the song Paint Your Face, and the double-single Our Generation I See U Again.

In January 2010, the singer was nominated for the European Border Breakers Awards 2010, representing France with Paint Your Face. He lost to Milow.

In spring 2015, he returned under his real name Yanis with his new single Hypnotized in the clip which Charlotte Le Bon is staged under hypnosis.

Catastrophe - Encore - 2020
Chanson, Art Pop, Comédie musicale

Album: GONG!

Produced under Bertrand Burgalat’s label Tricatel and acclaimed by Etienne Daho, the band is in the tradition of French avant-garde. Catastrophe defines its music as a kaleidoscope of musical genres. On stage, every performance is an original sensorial experience.

Founded in 2015, Catastrophe wobbled between three and twenty members. Today the band has found its balance with the seven people who incarnate it best: Pierre, Blandine, Arthur, Bastien, Pablo, Carol and Mathilde.
From intimate shows in small venues and cabarets to performing in some of France’s biggest festivals, Catastrophe has gone a long way.
In 2016, the publication of their manifesto in the French newspaper “Libération” gave rise to many reactions and debate. The lively discussions that followed – sometimes stirring, sometimes stinging – gave Catastrophe the urge to pursue their project and create more and better.
In 2018, their first album “La nuit est encore jeune” was released under Bertrand Burgalat’s label Tricatel. A few months prior an eponym essay was published in collaboration with Fayard/Pauvert edition.
Catastrophe has spent the last year on tour, skimming prestigious scenes (Les Francofolies, We Love Green, Pete the Monkey, La Gaité Lyrique…) all the while performing in places they cherish – museums, abandoned forests, churches, secluded beaches – with the sole purpose of creating out of this world moments and experiences. Whatever the time, whenever the place, Catastophe wishes to offer a momentum of total freedom, risk-taking and alternative possibilities to try and create what has never been done before.

Angelillo Et Hamel ‎– Je Veux Te Dire Une Chanson - 1973
soul-jazz, bossa nova, chanson, Quebec

Album: Complicité (RYM: 3.84/5)

An open secret among local collectors, this pigeonhole-proof album is the only known record of the meeting between prolific studio bassist Vic Angelillo and dentist-arranger Henri Hamel. With a star cast of guest vocalists including Claude Léveillée, they chart the unknown regions that divide soul-jazz, bossa nova and French chanson with lush orchestration and compelling grooves.

Hoshi - J'te pardonne - 2021

Album: Étoile flippante

Wikipédia:
Mathilde Gerner (French pronunciation: [matild ʒɛʁnɛʁ]; born 14 September 1996), better known by her stage mononym Hoshi, is a French singer-songwriter.

Early life
Mathilde Gerner was born on 14 September 1996 in Versailles and grew up in the commune Montigny-le-Bretonneux of the communauté d'agglomération Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. She started playing the piano at the age of 6 and the guitar at the age of 15, which is when she wrote her first songs.

Musical career
Gerner began her musical career with the amateur music group TransyStory, which was formed in September 2011. She provided vocals, keyboard, and guitar to this four-person group. The band occasionally put up municipal performances in Montigny-le-Bretonneux. The group played "Lou", their first recorded piece of music. Around the same time, in December 2011, Gerner alone competed in and won the "Jeunes Talents, c’est maintenant!" competition, organized by the city.[7] During this competition, she was noticed by Marc Isacco, who was in charge of a musical section in Montigny. Through Isacco, she was able to meet established artists and perform in larger venues. TransyStory separated at the end of 2012 and Gerner continued her solo career.

Being passionate about Japanese culture, she chose Hoshi Hideko as her stage name, later shortened to simply Hoshi (星), which means "star" in Japanese. She became known by publishing covers on the Internet and she received the support of the label Styiens. In 2013, at the age of 16, she was invited by the casting director of the French The Voice to compete. She successfully passed auditions but decided not to continue when the show's production wanted to control her song choice.

Gerner left high school and devoted herself to music by performing in the streets. In 2014, she participated in the show Rising Star on the channel M6, but her cover of "Mistral gagnant" did not qualify her. She returned to singing in the streets, where she was able to try out compositions. She also performed solo for small concerts. She was contacted almost two years later by a manager, through whom she was signed by the label Jo & Co.

T'as mis mon cœur en quarantaine,
Mon amour, tu m'as mise à terre,
Aveugle et sourde et sans repère.

J'te pardonne pour mon cœur fracassé
J'te pardonne pour tout c'que tu m'as fait
J'te pardonne d'avoir tout niqué
J'te pardonne j'voudrais oublier
J'me sens conne, j'aurais pas pensé
J'abandonne, j'mets tout de côté
Tu m'étonnes qu'l'amour fait crever
J'te pardonne, j'te pardonne, j'te pardonne…

J'me sens conne, j'aurais pas pensé
J'abandonne, j'mets tout de côté
Tu m'étonnes qu'l'amour fait crever

J'compte bien me battre jusqu'au bout…

J'te pardonne, j'te pardonne, j'te pardonne

J'te pardonne, j'te pardonne, j'te pardonne
J'te pardonne, j'te pardonne

Since her lips on yours,
I feel like poison in my veins.
My soul is trapped under glass
In my mouth a bitter taste.

I'm dying alone with noises in my ears,
You've quarantined my heart
My love, you've knocked me down
Blind and deaf and devoid of cues.

I forgive you for my shattered heart
I forgive you for all you've done to me
I forgive you for all you've fucked up
I forgive you, I'd like to forget
I feel stupid, wouln't have thought
I surrender, put it all aside.
No wonder they say love is killing you
I forgive you, I forgive you, I forgive you...

Flooding the armchair with my tears
The night's long, I feel so alone.
My dreams are crumbling, they are sulking
Our bed ressembles a gasket.
My tears are dissolving in the table.
The night's long and I feel like a creep
My dreams crumble and I feel I'm losing it.
In our room, I even see the Devil.

I forgive you for my shattedred heart
I forgive you for all you've done to me
I forgive you for all you've fucked up
I forgive you I'd like to forget
I feel stupid, wouln't have thought
I surrender and put it all aside.
No wonder the say love's killing you.
I forgive you, I forgive you... I've seen enough !

I've seen it all.
I've got more than the blues
On the palette of pain
All the shades of despear.

Only you can give me solace
Even if you're the one who hurt me.
It's not the same again, I picture us in a blurr
I feel her smell on your knees.

I'm like a soldiers who's been shot,
Didn't see the enemy coming,
But I've learned to take the hits
And I'm gonna fight till the end...

I forgive you, we're gonna rebuild eveything
I forgive you, I know we're gonna heal
I forgive you, can't help it
I forgive you and it's gonna be as beautiful as before
I forgive you, hold on to my arms
Let go of these threesomes.
I don't give a damn how long it's gonna take.
I forgive you, I forgive you, I forgive you

I forgive you,I forgive you,I forgive you,
I forgive you,I forgive you

Sauveur Mallia - 1979 - Musique Electronique

Album: Spatial & Co, Volume 2

Sauveur Mallia, author of a plethoric discography, was affiliated to the label Télé Music for which he worked during many years, composing jingles, radio callsigns or advertisements. He even had a small success in the middle of the disco period with his group Voyage after having played with Cerrone.

Born Bad Records:
In the ever-expanding universe of 70s and 80s French library music, Sauveur Mallia holds a special place; his career, multifaceted work and the uniqueness of his talent have made him an exemplary figure in the unsung world of library musicians. In those years a few of them, often for economical reasons, would set off on a space conquest, taking along just a few synthesisers. Their ambition well surpassed the modesty of their means; it was in turn the condition to their experimentations with sound which were to create a new sonic space: that of a nation tumbling into modernity. From French soil to the farthest reaches of the cosmos, there were just a few steps to take. It’s with the label Tele Music, boarding the spaceship Arpadys, along with the Voyage crew, that Sauveur Mallia took the big leap.
