I realize this is not going to be the most popular of the genres, but much like other fringe genres like metal, jazz & rap there will be detractors which includes myself in this category. This is going to be tough, but I will try to come up with 5 even though I can only securely rank the top 2. I guess I have to go with who I respect more than who I am a fan of...

1. Dixie Chicks
2. Garth Brooks
3. Miranda Lambert
4. Alison Krauss
5. George Strait

All together there are about two artists that I actually care about in this round, and about three or four others I can safely say that I don't hate. Needless to say, I'm going to abstain from voting this round.

Is Lyle Lovett in a different round? Probably the only modern country guy I actually enjoy listening to.

There are a lot of genres of music out there, but this might just be my least favorite. Living in Georgia and having friends that listen exclusively to country does not help.

I cannot fault anyone from abstaining, I did not want to include this genre but doing a broad selection of genres I felt it was a necessary evil.

As for Lyle Lovett, he is part of traditional country. Kind of that gray area of country artists in the 80's. I have to admit, this is one area of music I do not know enough about but tried to be as inclusive as possible.

For those concerned about these artists moving on, they are in a loaded regional with folk rock, country rock and traditional country. There will be a lot of great artists in that regional. Just more of an FYI than anything else.

It was hard to get to five for this one. Is there a separate alt/country genre with people like Lucinda Williams and Steve Earle? My god pop-country is dead.

I love how a group moved on with 7 points in 60's pop. (And not for lack of voters, either. Literally everybody voted for the same groups!)

Probably the weakest/least interesting group of artist yet.

There is just no comparing this to the indie group of a couple of days ago.

Traditional and alternative country are so much better, but there are a few artists here that are worth listening to.
It's a big exagerated to put them all in the same bag like most of you guys do.

1. Dwight Yoakam
2. George Strait
3. Alison Krauss
4. Miranda Lambert
5. Dixie Chicks
