4. A radio or TV channel is eligible if it is a "main station" of a country (typically a public broadcasting service with a focus on music). The staff team requirement needs to be fulfilled but not the number of reviews.

The BBC would probably be the main broadcaster overall in the UK, certainly fulfils the public broadcasting clause. Only doubt is that 6 Music is not the main BBC station, or even the main music station, but would probably be the one with the playlist/demographic most matching AM.

Each BBC radio station has their own remit http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctrust/our_work/ ... ences.html. This helps to explain why 6 music list is light on hip hop etc. as that is more remit of Radio 1 and 1 xtra, but probably still more eclectic than say sources like The Quiteus.

The ones that include music are:

BBC Radio 1 - The remit of Radio 1 is to entertain and engage a broad range of young listeners with a distinctive mix of contemporary music and speech.

BBC Radio 1 Xtra - The remit of 1Xtra is to play the best in contemporary black music with a strong emphasis on live music and supporting new UK artists.

BBC Radio 2 - The remit of Radio 2 is to be a distinctive mixed music and speech service, targeted at a broad audience, appealing to all age groups over 35.

BBC Radio 3 - The remit of Radio 3 is to offer a mix of music and cultural programming in order to engage and entertain its audience. [mostly classical music]

BBC 6 Music
The remit of BBC 6 Music is to entertain lovers of popular music with a service that celebrates the alternative spirit in popular music from the 1960s to the present day.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latest ... -shortlist

'The winner [for both] will be announced at the BBC Music Awards which take place on Monday 12 December at the ExCeL London, broadcast live on BBC One and hosted by Fearne Cotton, Claudia Winkleman and Gemma Cairney. The BBC Music Awards will premiere in the US on BBC America on 14 December.'

The 6 music list seems to have been eligible in 2014, but taken out last year as it was just a list of individual DJ's favourites

So surely as back to ranked list by DJs eligible again this year. No. 1 due tomorrow.
