Ween's Chocolate and Cheese was a really fun listen, thanks Jackson. Zappa-esque in its nuttiness, it just kept a smile on my face for the entirety of the 50-odd minutes that it was playing. I think it's a great idea!

Perhaps we can do a "20th century" one as well, similar to TSPDT, so that it expands out a bit. Those little bands, like The Shins, will never make a splash in the all-time games, but could in a 20th century one.

Me too in the "Django Django is great" camp. Harold's experiences are exactly like mine. I've also heard the most amazing album yesterday - Accelerando by the Vijay Iyer Trio. Made up of a pianist, a bassist and a drummer, these guys play the most intricate and impressive avant-garde jazz....

I've listened to a grand total of 2 albums from this year, and I wasn't big fans of either of them. I too seem to not have the will or the patience to pick something up from this year and really stick to it. I think one of the main reasons for this is that there haven't been many established artists...

The Divine Comedy's Promenade is one of my favourites from 1994, so I'm definitely going to be picking up Liberation. I always wondered they were a "big" hit in France, but on in their home country or anywhere else...

I don't think In The Wee Small Hours is his favourite album, it's just in order of release date, which is why Sinatra comes first.

I think Sufjan is most likely to grow. Though I think Kanye West is one of the finest artists not only of our generation but all time, I think his acclaim will be stuck within his time, as it's quite difficult for rap artists to distinguish themselves from the rest.

I think another factor is that importance breeds importance. Just who would be calling Oasis "the next Beatles" if they came from Japan? That somehow the US/UK "got there first" in establishing rock and pop in the 50s/60s is very important to the continued success of these anglo ...

It's for people like us, who don't know the limits of addiction. I'm certainly going to try to pick it up, because I think MBV are one of those bands who are wholly dependent on their sound for their acclaim. The remaster might change a lot.
