AM's included these kinds of lists for some time.
I think in most cases, the works are decently acclaimed. While "Never Gonna Give You Up" featured on one 80s list not too long ago, I don't think we'll be seeing it on a serious "Most Influential" list.

Just a note- SoundScan started tracking sales in March 1991, and Billboard started using it for he albums chart in May of that year (the Hot 100's methodology changed in late 1991, to incorporate SoundScan and BDS info). Artists lists have to be 30 songs deep for eligibility- that was established within the last few years or so. RS put out a Prince edition after his passing, didn't it? I believe this was deemed ineligible, for the very reason that the charts/hit status were a main factor. The albums counterpart leaned toward commercial, too, but it wasn't as blatantly so.

As I like to dance, I do enjoy disco (I couldn't really enjoy it at the time too much, though, given I was born in 1975).

Something to keep in mind is that "later singles" often don't get the acclaim/recognition that earlier singles from an album enjoy. Especially with acts that were known to release a lot of singles from an album (Michael Jackson, especially, with the albums from 1982-1991).

This is a strictly Eagles list, or does it also include solo tracks from Don Henley, Glenn Frey, etc.? The Eagles had seven studio albums (plus then-new tracks via other albums). But, if just the Eagles, you can have a top 50 list and have at least 20 tracks left over.
