I meant to add another point to that post, because while these terms have been historically used as signifiers of whiteness, they've recently enjoyed another expression in the form of artists such as Mitski, Japanese Breakfast, or Jay Som. Oasis I think could make it in, and maybe Biggie. I'd love to see Godspeed make it in but there's no shot there. Weezer I also could see making it - they've been a very popular rock band since 1994, even if some people might not enjoy their newer work as much.

Glad to see "City Looks Pretty" on the list - easily my favorite song off Tell Me How You Really Feel. Seems publications are latching onto "Nameless, Faceless" (which I totally understand) and "Need a Little Time" (which I understand less) instead.

Interesting to see which tracks are the ones that critics' lists latch onto from the "big albums" of the year. I often feel that a song's success on this list, if it's not a noted single like say, "This Is America", is too how much it stands out from the other tracks on an album....

These lists really made me relisten to On Dark Horses by Emma Ruth Rundle and it really "hit" for the first time. I didn't love her last release, Marked for Death, too much, but her Some Heavy Ocean I enjoyed quite a bit - not sure who, but I know someone here nominated it for a forum game.

Also, the classic Weezer recipe of bridge into guitar solo into final chorus works amazingly in my book, particularly in stuff like Say It Ain't So or Buddy Holly or Endless Bummer.
