Re: MBV reissues

It would have been great to round it off with their sublime cover versions of 'We Have All The Time In The World' and 'Map Ref 41°N 93°W' too. Guess we can't have everything... I agree. Those are both great tracks, and showed that they at least did something after Loveless. I ended up just ripping ...

Re: MBV reissues

I think the second disc is a remaster of demo tapes of the tracks. Probably something I listen to just once or twice to see what it sounds like (like the session tracks on the Smile reissue). With Kevin Shields' reputation, quality control is not going to be an issue. These remasters will sound amaz...

Brian Eno is one of the greatest musicians of all time. Though not many people here voted for DMB, Eno should have flown through even with the tough competition.

MBV reissues

A Loveless remaster was always an "I'll believe it when I see it" thing for me, but here it is, due May 7. I don't know how much room for improvement there is for my number 1 album, but when Kevin Shields works on something for a while, I trust the result will be good. Also, hopefully the ...

I like the quick voting idea for every round after the first. People don't need 7 days to think about which songs they like more than others after they've already heard the songs before. I'm still in favor of a 128-song field for this.

New Unacclaimed Songs Game?

Would anyone want to participate in a new unacclaimed songs game? I think a tournament similar to the one Moonbeam has run would be fun (even though his technically isn't finished yet). I have a few suggestions for improving the game too: 1. Expand the field to 128 2. Eliminate the loser's bracket (...

From my initial listening I'm finding 1990 to be much more of a songs year than an albums year. My favorite release is an EP (MBV's Glider), and no albums are in my top 100, but there are some great singles. This year is definitely the calm before the storm hit in 1991.
