Have You in My Wilderness is further evidence that Julia Holter is magical. She made Natalie Prass's debut and Joanna Newsom's return rather tame four songs in - and everybody here knows I am a Newsom fanboy all the way. This is gorgeous. It's the otherwordly sucessor of Scott Walker's Scott 3 or an...

Great analysis, Nick. I can't disagree with you in a way that isn't fully subjective, so here's some food for thought (or annoyances haha) 1. Found Jamie xx's In Colour very conservative, especially compared to where electronic music is currently heading at in 2015, with the likes of Lotic and his Tri Angle crew or DJ Nigga Fox and Nidia Minaj from Lisbon scene or Jlin from Chicago. Jamie is nostalgic, but those songs failed even in nosta...

The outro was good, but the song itself was largely unimaginative. Found the "All Day" repetitions annoying and the riff straight out of Kanye's own Monster. In my opinion, this has been the least exciting string of releases of his career.

Sleater-Kinney's had stronger individual songs, but Pratt's is the one I've been returning often; hypnotic folk that improves her charming, wintery debut on nearly every level. I had mixed feelings. It is enjoyable, but also highly indebt to old school R&B records, some parts sound already dated on arrival – and analog is not a reason for it. If someone had told me this was a D'Angelo album recorded during the 90s that has just resurfaced I'd believe. This shouldn't im...
