Re: Recommendation Thread: 1982 Poll

Oingo Boingo (one of those acts that Rodney Bingenheimer can brag about first playing) made their first great album this year, with two more in a row to go. If I threw out Thriller, then Nothing to Fear would actually be my album of the year. [imgsize 300x169:2sir1i5f]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/yuxss1kB...

Re: Your old reactions to certain songs, at that age

I actually first thought about this dynamic thanks to Ringo Starr -- I believe in the Anthology coffee table book, he says Sgt. Pepper's was his least favorite record, because of where his head was at, at the time. I thought that was so odd, the first time I read that. Then Billy Idol sort of trash...

Re: Your old reactions to certain songs, at that age

Sometimes I think that my relative dislike of certain music years coincides with my lamer years of high school/college, like 1995 (when I turned 17, incidentally). The problem is, music years are not identical (grunge and alternative guitar rock were still at its peak in '94, then even a year later ...

Not quite in the same category, for sure, because little kids don't really know anything yet, and are easier to take advantage of or overpower.

Discussion thread for 1982 Michael Jackson, Leaving Neverland

I had thought about creating this a while ago... I feel like otherwise this discussion could take up a lot of space in the 1982 poll, but at the same time, I want people to go on about this as much as they feel is necessary. I'll weigh in now, too, not that it's that compelling. I plan on voting for...

This is going off my top 50 artist list from last time. I doubt it's going to look much different this year, other than shuffling the order around. It's not that easy to infiltrate the list, especially since we're talking about evaluating discographies instead of an album or song. (I added a song by...
