Re: Moderately Acclaimed Albums 2018 - Round 2.1

Second week an immediately a quality jump. I wouldn't agree that all albums here are masterpieces, but the first three match-ups are as good as they get, and the fourth one is still okay. 3. John Coltrane - My Favorite Things vs. 5. Johnny Cash - American III: Solitary Man 6. Townes Van Zandt - The ...

Re: The Quietus: "I Prefer Their Later Work": 40 Brilliant Albums At The End Of Artists' Careers (2017)

I once played with the idea of setting up some sort of poll for albums made by artists past a certain age, to look at latter-day works that are sometimes ignored. This idea is similar, although it takes the term "past-their-prime" in a different way. In that sense Era Vulgaris is an intere...

Re: The AMF Top Songs of All Time 2018 Edition

One song that's probably going to do better than people expect is Kiss from a Rose. Every single list here has it in the top 500, two put it in the top 100, and one voter had it at #10! In fact, I'm embarrassed to say that at #417, my list has it the lowest. What makes you say this? There are a lot...

I guess I update my only one nomination in the game at a time rule to two nominations at a time. Since Lana Del Rey has made the Hall of Fame (hurray!) Regardless of rank, songs that come to mind: - Much of Lana Del Rey, with Video Games and West Coast as the best in this regard. Or Fucked My Way to the Top if that is your thing. - Some type of rock sounds very sexy to me, a certain heavy but slick guitar sound. Best examples are Do I Wanna Know or...
