Re: Albums of 2018

First big release for me is First Aid Kit - Ruins coming out Friday. Might pick that album up, the singles off it have been really good. Really enjoyed Shame's debut Songs of Praise which came out last week, that looks set to be one of my favourite releases of 2018 and the Camila Cabello album had ...

Some really good albums this week, it's a shame that I had to vote against the Manic's album but Sound Affects is my all time favorite record. My picks: 1. The Jam - Sound Affects 2. Sonny Sharrock - Ask The Ages 3. Nilsson - Aerial Ballet (although on another day I could have easily chosen The Fall...

Re: Bands that are most famous in their native countries (and whether or not they deserve wider attention)

With regards to a lot of British bands (eg. The Jam, The Specials, The Fall, Oasis etc.) I think the reason that they are perhaps unknown or underrated in the USA and the rest of the world is because they are (without meaning to use a cliché) 'quintessentially British' in lyrical content and even do...

Re: Moderately Acclaimed Albums 8 - The Draw!

''You're gonna lose that girl'' is pure pop perfection in my opinion as well and one of the Beatles' most underrated tracks. Funny you word it that way... I usually point to "Ticket To Ride" as the perfect pop song. To be fair, I was probably wrong to single out 1 Beatles song as 'perfect...

Sorry for causing controversy haha. I just nominated my favorites that were eligible, and I was shocked that it was. Some fantastic nominations and 2 The Jam albums :D :D . Some great match ups in the 1st round as well.

I think the Novos Baianos - Acabou chorare will do well and could be a dark horse to win the tournament as it's a cracking album.

Thanks for the suggestions. Most of the artists mentioned are names I've come across before but just never explored further. 1966 or 1967 for me. Just seemed those two years were great years for music of all genres. Arguably the greatest albums ever put out were released in '66 or '67 (Revolver, Pet Sounds, Otis Blue and the Velvet underground and Nico etc.)
