Re: Albums of 2018

I spent today listening to two of the most acclaimed Electronic albums of the year: Knock Knock by DJ Koze and 2002-2007 by A.A.L. The former is a gorgeous affair; it is soulful and welcoming in its approach, full of warm tones and overall very atmospheric due to the amount of different synth timbre...

^Amen to this. While Amy sometimes handles well with the delivery and timing, she recycles too much, steals often and hasn't done anything which would distinguish her from others like Sarah Silverman and Ali Wong.

When I think of bass-driven songs, this is off the top of my head: "Forget Me Nots" by the incredibly talented Patrice Rushen. The bass in this song is too good: groovy, seductive, it is technical but sounds so effortless.

Agree this is a very good album, maybe best of year so far. I agree a lot of the hip hop is unnecessary. I have no idea who decided in 1998 or so that every R&B song needed a rap verse, but it’s apparently somebody with lots of authority. I would argue it's started when Mariah Carey insisted on...

Yeah the Cardi B album cover looks like a demented Gwen Stefani in her L.A.M.B era and that ain't a good look. Invasion of Privacy is pretty alright. I absolutely love "Bickenhead" - great banger that is just ridiculously fun to sing along to, and the girl is technically decent for sure.
