Sin also did a 5 Best Videos of the Last 35 years list. That one was credited to Spin Staff, unlike the songs list, which has a single writer. She does write "we" in the intro, though, for what it's worth.

Britney Spears isn't regarded as one of the great artists of all time- though "...Baby..." was very impactful, and, is one of two notably acclaimed singles in her career. The song's also the epitome of the Max Martin sound at the time.

Another year vs. year: Cher's "Believe" was released in October 1998, and hit the U.S. top 40 in early 1999 (on its way to the top). Compared to most other countries, though, the USA success came after, so I guess 1998 is OK for that one.

It may not be the biggest hits, but any list with, for instance, Journey doing that well... makes it questionable. :mrgreen: The band is now in the Rock Hall, but it took a number of years and critics never loved them.

bootsy- neither Whitney or Mariah have been huge critical favorites trough the years. But, neither were Journey, Neil Diamond, etc.- so, it may just take some time for them to get considered. While Mariah co-wrote most of her material, unlike Whitney, I still think the Hall would consider her first....

babydoll- don't forget the exquisite "Something to Remember," which later became the title track of her ballads compilation. I also quite like "More," and some of the other tracks are fun- but I wouldn't put it in contention as one of her best albums. At the time, it was definitely a left-field type...

OK- I can see that point, Stevie. But, as prosecutor mentioned, Danny also was willing to change for Sandy. I think it showed, though, that it wasn't just that motivating Sandy- she herself looked to be having some inner struggle with being "Sandra Dee," and wanted a change. I love 'Xanadu" the song...
