The first release of "Radio Free Europe" by R.E.M. was in 1981. "Moonage Daydream" and "Hang onto Yourself" by David Bowie were first released as a single in 1971 under the name Arnold Corns. The Band didn't play on the 1971 version of "I Shall Be Released" by...

Re: NEW Rolling Stone Top 500 Albums of All Time

I just wish they'd redo this list from the bottom up, rather than making slight changes that contradict other lists they've made in recent years. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was their #3 of the 00s, yet only their #490-some odd of all-time. They should start from scratch.

I will say this. As a list, I think it's terrible. 2 Sade Albums above Murmur is ridiculous. As a fan of this site, it's always interesting when we have some movements in the rankings. Hopefully this and lists like it will cause some interesting shifts, that will result in new discussion.

Wow, this list illustrates just have far P4's tastes have drifted from mine (in what seems like just two or three years). With Kendrick getting #1 album of the year and #1 song of the year, I see him taking the artist of the decade crown from Kanye, and entering the top 60 (maybe even top 50?) of all-time next update. To Henrik's point, I think critics in this century have always been excited about the idea of contribu...

Two of these albums will drop at Decade's end. There's no way one artist gets 3 top 5 albums of the decade. Even 3 top 10 is unlikely. Still, both To Pimp a Butterfly and good kid, m.A.A.d. I adore this song. I have a memory of listening to this song on my first iPod, 12-13 years ago. Every time I hear the song, I remember that day for some reason. Waited for years to see it finally break into the acclaimed music rankings.
