Re: Spin - Jeff Tweedy's 30 Best Songs (2017)

In my opinion, the best pure American songwriter of the last 30 years. It's always great to see Tweedy get individual list recognition. I have tons of compunctions with the list, but still. Always a plus to get more Wilco lists.

Radiohead can maybe take Bruce. Bowie is 100% stuck at #4. There's too much math against him ever moving up.

I know the points aren't a necessary 1 to 1, but if Blackstar has more points than to Pimp a Butterfly did last year, and To Pimp a Butterfly is set to enter at 100 of all time, doesn't it stand to reason that Blackstar might do the same?

Ok, so I promise this is not just to complain about how Teens of Denial being « only » ranked 29th in the UK is completely ruining its chances at reaching the top 10, but it’s interesting to see which albums are overlooked or especially beloved by one region. Blackstar will debut at 180-ish. Could be. But what about the direction afterwards? Downward. Older artists tend to drop once decade end lists/ all-time lists come out. See: Love & Theft, SMiLE, All 21st century albums by Nick Cave and Tom Waits. Unless Blackstar has an impact on music that com...

Blackstar (Title track) will be 1800ish.

I've never put too much stock in religion. I've heard more academic attacks on rock music, when it comes to discussing rock lyrics as poetry, or discussing Rock's contributions/ greatness compared to Bach and Beethoven. I'm sorry your faith is causing such conflict. I don't think music determines th...

One thing that's really surprised me over the last couple of years is this trend towards solo artists as opposed to bands or duos in the upper echelon of the album's EOY lists. As a review, this is the number of albums in the top 20 albums of the year that were created by a band/duo. 2006: 10 2007:...

24 of the 88 diamond albums appear in the AM top 200, while 26 don't even appear bubbling under. I wonder what this says, if anything, about the tastes of the masses? It actually says very little.
