This is probably the first year of the decade where I like every single album in our top ten. There's just something very agreeable about the albums at the top this year.

The top 5 albums are very deserving, with one nice surprise. I think it's JM's to lose, but wouldn't be surprised by M or KM.

What a great and unexpected placement for The Mysterious Vanishing of Electra! I agree that the video goes perfectly with the song. It kind of reminds me of the style of Twin Peaks: The Return.

That 16-30 section is just one classic after another. I think I'll end up preferring it to the top 15 on the whole.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title was Andy Stott's album covers. They're all distinctive, unique, and accentuate the dark, bass-heavy music. Sunbather is a great example of a situation where album art probably attracted critical acclaim. I can't imagine Sunbather would have done as well if it had a generic metal album cover.

Soundtracks for the Blind over Blue Lines is a crazy result! Bet that will never be repeated again. It would be fun if more people had commented...RockyRaccoon is just lighting into many of the more adventurous albums. :)

I made some edits to my albums list including adding Heaven and Earth at number 8, as I finally got around to listening to the entire thing!

I also added the Avantdale Bowling Club album, which is a really nice discovery from the moderately acclaimed game / sonofsam's list.

About that Grimes song, that could almost be the biggest musical disappointment of the year to me. All original qualities of Grimes previous efforts seem to be removed to come to more standard modern sound. Even the fascist robot theme feels extremely stale and cliched. Immaterial just dominated that last update. I think it'll do even better on our forum list. It's also interesting to see the battles between thank u, next and no tears left to cry and Honey and Missing U. They seemingly swap every update.

Thank U Next and No Tears Left to Cry are vote splitting almost perfectly. I wonder how highly either one would rank if not for the other.

It's interesting that MGMT has two songs on here but neither one is the sublime She Works Out Too Much, which seems like it will be the AMF favorite.
