Re: 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees
It really seems like R&B gets the shaft around here a lot. I don't see how anyone can deny that the catalog of, say, Mary J Blige is greater than Oasis, Peter Frampton, Jane's Addiction, etc (as an example). She's been releasing solid work for 30 years now. I feel like you will find very few mu...

Yeah it would be cool if there is a way we could do some of the work (like data entry or whatever) so you can quickly add a list in or something.

Re: 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees
How is this not an exciting group? You all must be whiter than rice. I am excited to see so much R&B and hip-hop here since that is often lacking when it comes to the Hall of Fame. It seems like some of you just want to induct more white rockers. If the Hall really is about influence and contrib...

You could make that case as guitar rock certainly doesn't carry the weight it once did, but you could also make the case that the way Nirvana was able to take pop music and filter it through distorted noise is something that still happens in pop music to this day (through different processes, but s...

I think it's also worth discussing how the specific lists in question were compiled. For instance, the more recent Rolling Stone lists were done by compiling lists sent in by artists, journalists, etc. There is no 'agenda' there in that so many people contributed that it's just how things shook out....

Some of these aren't even necessarily about the songs being great are they? One section is about great guest verses, but a song can have a great guest verse but suck otherwise.

I think there are too many lists that cater to alternative music anyway. It's nice to get some other music represented. Plus, don't the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fit alternative? Plus, there is reggae and Latin in there, as well as pop-country and R&B. Great mix.

Why do you question those 3 and not Beyonce?
I assume the inclusion of those songs has to do with how blurry the lines have become between R&B and hip-hop. Hip-hop is just as much about the rhythm and production as it is rap.
