Re: Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (2020 edition)
Thanks for getting this transcribed so quickly! I did jump straight to the top 50 when I visited the RS website. I'm sure the rest of the list will confirm the initial impression that this is a fascinating and frustrating effort by RS to revamp the canon (I have no doubt they're already receiving h...

Re: Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songs of the Century So Far
We shouldn't attribute it to Rolling Stone, per se, as the list was actually compiled by artists, writers, and industry folk. You can see whose participation led to the rankings here: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/how-we-made-the-greatest-songs-of-the-century-so-far-list-666941/ To t...

Well, I posted a link to that Carrie Underwood single review. That was from today (as in, September). Here is a review of the Aretha single from this month: http://popdust.com/2014/09/29/listen-aretha-franklins-painful-cover-adeles-rolling-deep/ And here is one to the new Fergie song: http://popdust...

They definitely do. This is one from today:

They cover various music, too. Here is a track-by-track review for Drake's last album, for example:

I can type it up later assuming it counts. Is there a reason this wasn't included for 2013? Maybe no one knew about it.

Re: The Singles Jukebox
I think there are too many lists that cater to alternative music anyway. It's nice to get some other music represented. Plus, don't the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fit alternative? Plus, there is reggae and Latin in there, as well as pop-country and R&B. Great mix.

No, I am assuming the 4 non-winners are all counted the same. Couldn't the same rule be used for lists that don't rank?

Re: The Singles Jukebox
Hmmm, the fact that they simply list out their highest reviewed songs and call it a list gives me doubts, but these look like they could be eligible (on a personal note, thank you for mentioning the site itself fionalive, I've had great time browsing through it :D ) It's a bit of a different format...

The Singles Jukebox
Have these ever been mentioned?

If you look on the left, the top songs from each year are listed (i.e. in order by average).
I'll type them out if it's something that might be counted.

Re: Question about a list
That makes sense to an extent, but other things that count - like the Grammy nominees - don't have a full ranking. Why not just count all 50 equally as from a best-of list?

Question about a list
Is there a thread for general questions? I am wondering why the Slant list of Top 50 Pop Albums counts as ratings and not as a list.

Re: DJBooth Top 25 Hip-Hop Songs of the 2000s
Why do you question those 3 and not Beyonce?
I assume the inclusion of those songs has to do with how blurry the lines have become between R&B and hip-hop. Hip-hop is just as much about the rhythm and production as it is rap.
